Thanks to ReikoX for some seeds, I got a grow going–something I haven’t done in decades, so it’s really fun. If the pics came through, here are my babies. Hopefully, better pics to come:
Nice can’t wait to see you do them justice!
That’s what this site is all about for me.
Did I mention the 10% bud tax?
My plants are about three weeks old. Some of them are starting to look like they’re doing something more than just leaves . . . are these flowers? Only three weeks?
Those are male flowers dude.
How many plants do you have? Are they all developing pollen sacs like that?
Two or three. Are you sure? Should I pull them out?
You can if you want. It will make it easier if you only have to deal with females. Or you can grow them out a tad longer, being sure to keep them separate from any females, and collect the pollen for later use. Or just pollenate of of your females later on with it.
But if you’re not careful, pollen will get everywhere.
they or male plants.
Thanks. I just pulled them. I’d rather just deal with the females. Later if I get better at growing, I could work with male plants to my advantage, using them to make seeds or whatever, but for now I’ll just skip the hassle. Trying to get some flowers right now, that’s the main object. Thanks for this info. They didn’t look right to me, but I wasn’t sure.
No problem man. Glad to help. How are the rest looking?
They look all right. They are barely showing sex. I figure they are female, since they haven’t done what these plants did. I’ll take some pics. This is a tiny grow. Now that the males are out, I have three plants. I think they’re all female. I’ll post some pics in a few minutes . . .
Sigh, taking out the males left me with not so much canopy . . . here’s what’s left. I think they may be females. Sure hope so. On the plus side, taking out the males will let me germinate some seeds and get some new plants going!
Looking good!
Can we get some details of the grow? Ie; light, growing medium, nutrients, etc.
I’m using a iPlantop LED Grow Light Full Spectrum,3 chips LED Plant Growing Lamp 1000w in a 2x2x4 tent. Here’s the link to the light: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BJGK7JT/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The potting soil they are in is Nature’s Care Organic Potting Mix with Water Conserve by Miracle Grow.
I didn’t have to water them much. They are only two or three weeks old. When I got them started I soaked them and never had to add more. I kept them moist though, gave them a good watering once–used a pinch of miracle grow in the water, probably about one tenth what miracle grow says to use.
They are in 4 gallon bags.
The light is about a foot and a half from the leaves. The exhaust fan is the fan from my humidifier, set on top of the tent over an exhaust vent. There’s a sheet of carbon filter material between the fan and the tent. Everything seems to be working all right.
They’re on 18 / 6 light cycle.
I don’t know anything about trimming or any of that, I’m just giving them water and plenty of light, waiting for the time to switch to flowering cycle, which I figure will be in about 4 weeks total growing time (?).
Now that I have room, after taking out the males, I can germinate some more seeds and get them growing in the tent. They will be out of synch with the rest in there, but hopefully I can grow both at the same time for a while before moving the older ones out for flowering . . .
@ReikoX beans ya have there are reg autos they’ll switch to flower mode by them self when their ready so light change won’t have any effect of flower mode .
Just FYI I would be cautious about the miracle grow. You wanna make sure they don’t stay wet all the time. The soil will need to dry out a bit (top inch of soil) between watering.
Also at the moment your grow light is the limiting factor. 80 true watts should be good enough for those three but if you want more you should look at investing in a bit more lighting.
As for the three you have now they are autoflowering, so you can leave them under an 18/6 light schedule all the way through harvest. They will transition on their own, which is why your males started producing already.
Nice. Makes it easier. So far it’s been all good, easy, and they really grow fast!
Thanks. Will do. The light seems nice and bright, and the plants like it, but I have a second light (I think it’s a sodium vapor . . . it’s an old parking lot light) I can put in with the led.
First time my self growing autos the ones I did earlier did rather well IMO I have some of those beans from @ReikoX myself but haven’t dropped any in soil yet at least I don’t think I have ! Lol
