New here, 2x3x3 Cab [Complete] [480w SolStrips]

Yep, Oil based worked better.

I decided to start testing out temps and such, plus I figured the seedlings would like a preview of their new home  I love zip ties! I have the temp probe on top of the light board just hanging off the left side “where the air should be flowing” and I set the smart mode on the thermostat to 80 degrees F.

Hopefully they won’t need watering until wednesday… Gonna have to teach the wifey how to open the cab so she can check them once daily.

And a closeup of them. I couldn’t get super close because the paint is still kinda tacky on the door, didn’t want to disturb the paint too much.

I swear, it’s the last update tonight lol.

please dont cook with ro water unless you drink the water you cook in. it will steal all the minerals and nutrients from your food snd can very detrimental to your health. try spring water its cheaper then RO too !

dude the box is so sick!! i wanna send you led strips to switch out those cfls with😂

Don’t forget, I’m just waiting on heatsinks so I can build my solstrip light lol

Those aren’t CFLs. They’re household LED bulbs with the diffusers taken off (correct @Jellypowered?) . If those are each 23Watt that fixture should actually work pretty well, 300 or so watts of decent mid powered LED in such a small space is 50 watts per square foot.

The Samsung diodes in the Sol Strips are probably more efficient though (there isn’t much available that is better)

@Jellypowered, You might want to put your temp sensor down near your canopy level. I have found that even with a lot of air movement I get stratification in my room/tent. It can be 65 on the floor and 90 near the ceiling. Are you going to put anything in there to move air around besides the exhaust?

I’m thinking about building something like that so that I can have some plants in my living room. Maybe with a glass front or something.

Looking good! With 6 plants that thing will fill up fast!

One other thing, RO water tastes pretty bad. It has pretty much no flavor and personally I think most regular tap water tastes better after going through a charcoal filter. Plus a RO system wastes a ton of potable water. I don’t like that so many people automatically go for RO it seems like a wast of money and drinking water. Most tap water will work if you figure out what is in it and adjust your nutrients/growing style for it. Even Chlorine is a nutrient in small enough doses (like what is in most tap water)

could you enlighten me on how plants use chlorine?

Congratulations man, you have just bought a very nice quiet and powerful piece of equipment. I got the T4 and the T6 both… They work like wonders. The probe for temp is very accurate, trust the probe instead of the meter you got in the tent, i place the probe at canopy level…

Nice my man!

I’m mobile so the replies won’t include quotes it’s too much of a pain in the ass,

They are 9w Led bulbs with the diffusers removed. There are 15 bulbs total, 135w
Makes 22.5w/sqft

This morning I moved the probe down and wedged it between the cups so I could see what canopy temp would be.

I do plan on having a little oscillating fan to move the air around better inside.

And @MadScientist I agree I’m loving this fan!!

Chlorine as a plant nutrient: http://irrec.ifas.ufl.edu/irsws/History%20Publications/2/Chen.pdf

It will also help cut down on those icky microbes!

i find RO water tastes excellent. but i agree with waste water which is why i don’t use it for my plants or have an RO system myself. but until they stop dumping fluoride (which is a toxic byproduct from mining operations that would be expensive to dispose of properly) its basically waste water itself. and brita or other filters doesn’t remove it.

gotta get a good filterXD fuck brita fosho. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B00BWIX1EQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1511201107&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=steel+water+filter

Building a veg & clone area is the last task on getting my room up to par

Once I get the new house built, (hopefully with a garage) I will be gutting the shed and converting the whole shed into a perpetual setup (Much like you are describing, clone/veg/flower areas. I wanna harvest once a month (for steady supply, not counting experiments and fun grows)

veg
I have a temporary veg area so next grow they’re gonna be considerably larger than I started with on this grow which will cut my veg time they’re already topped which speeds things up too

Did you do any training on them or just top’d?

Checked on the seedlings, the cups were getting light so I gave them a little water till runoff. 1.0 EC still The bigger ones have roots starting to poke through the holes in the bottom of the cups. I’m gonna wait until they start drinking more before I transplant. I’d really like to have my light built before they get transplanted.

Question about seedlings. I read somewhere about the plant, if it has two stipules it’s possibly female. Well, on my seedlings 3 are showing double stipules, I’m probably just having a wet dream hoping for females but I wanted to know others experience on this.

Edit: are you flooding that Tupperware?

Nah that’s just a little extra water that came out after runoff. It’s practically gone 12hrs after a watering.

Got my heatsinks in today… Checked my supply of heat sink compound and i’m too low to build out the light like I want to. It’s alright, as I can’t drill all the holes in my aluminum angle until tomorrow anyway.

It’s funny how much shit I forget I have on hand, just as I was about to order some m3x.5 5mm screws, I remembered I ordered a BUNCH of them when I built my 3d printer. Sure enough a quick look in my many assorted plastic trays and I found the MOTHERLODE of M3 assorted screws lol.

So, Plan is as follows
Tomorrow (Wednesday) at work drill the holes for my heatsinks.
Thursday: Have a great and happy turkey day.
Friday: Impatiently wait for work to finish so I can come home and build my light.
Saturday: Enjoy the fruits of my labor and bring this thread to a close. Will be starting a Grow log and start praying to the harvest gods for a bountiful harvest.
