I’ve been amending my old soil with goat manure and compost. I had though about dropping some worms in as well. One thing that has kept me from doing so is just what you have done so I have to ask you about this. You put leaves down for mulch. I get the need for mulch but I’ve always kept any decaying vegetation out of my grow area because I figure it draws pests. Even when I grow outside, I plan to keep as much debris away as possible. Can you use paper as mulch? I’m not criticizing, just interested in the options.
I pretty much just put those leaves down there to shade them before they got into the soil. I already had a “mulch” layer. I had toppdessed with compost a few weeks ago so once they make it through the compost I’ll probably take the leaves out.
I’ve also seen people use paper as a mulch layer. I don’t think I’m going to go that route. Eventually I want to upgrade to bigger pots and utilize a cover crop with chop and drop mulch.ill have to wait until I get 7g pots or bigger to start on that
Yeah, I’ve seen that. I believe they used some kind of clover…
Don’t quote me on that though.
Yeah you want to use plants that are considered bioaccumulators, clover, legumes and such. I’m running quick 2 month cycles in my 5g pots for flower so I’m not going to mess with that until I get into 7g pots and veg in them before the flip flower. Ultimately you want to use cover crop in no till applications but I think the way I described would still yeild some bennifits
To any one who will see this! My friend wants to get into growing. He is just like us and loves the plant. He is really mechanically inclined and loves to tinker. This is why he wants to start with DWC. I’m worried he will get discouraged since growing in general is difficult and takes time, then you throw the dwc aspect into it which can lead to a laundry list of problems. What do you guys think I should tell him? I want him to grow dwc so we can trade clones and see how they react to different grow styles. I just see the first few runs in coco a better starting point.
Here is the French macaroons “sea of green” they are finishing week four of flower and everyone is happy healthy and putting on weight. Last run of her she was pretty green but it was a summer harvest. I’m hoping more purples come out on this run.
Here are the 4 girls coming down this week. The bubble gum are for sure ready. Its that damn alien Bubba that’s taking so long. I’m checking trichs these bubble gums have got amber and a good fade and the alien Bubba is 90% cloudy 10% clear. They were flipped on 8/4 and are coming down 10/4 after 8 weeks of flower.
Here’s the veg tent. I got some tacoing on the udog in the 3g pots so I moved the light up and that’s starting to go away. Other than that and some slow growth on the plants in the 1g pots everything’s been smooth sailing. Pictured I have a bubble gum cut that decided to monster crop its self. I cut off any weird small and shriveled growth. Kinda lolli popped it and it’s bouncing back just fine. That’s the first time I’ve ran into that happening.
That’s what I’ve got for you today now I’m off to try and find some new genetics… peace!
I’ve never grown DWC.
Me either. I just think that’s a really complicated way to learn to grow right off rip. Plus the initial investment goes up considerably.
Just picked up packs of white widow and exodus cheese from greenhouse. Tangerine dream and blueberry headband from Barnes farm. They came with a sour something auto freebie. so soon I’ll be trying an auto for the first time. I also managed to grab an acinfinity 6inch oscillating clips fan plus more amendments for flower. Less than 300 bucks for more than 6months worth of supplies. This is one of the biggest reasons why I run organics.
Oh and I’m using Northern Atlantic seed company for the first time. I’ve used Daga and seeds here now previously. Excited to get the new gear in!
I’ve only bought seeds twice. both times from homegrowncannabis . Of course, I’ve only been growing about two years now.
So excited! I got my ac infinity 6inch oscillating clips fan! My carbon filter came in today as well.(not as exciting) tonight I will be moving my exhaust fan from MH2 to MH1 and installing the new filter. I’ll also be chopping down the 3 bubblegum and one alien Bubba. I’ll have pictures up layer on tonight. Stay tuned!
Also I made a mistake the blueberry headband is from Humboldt seed organization not Barnys farm.
Looking lush in there! I bet they like the air moving around better.
Oh yeah it feels way better in there already!
