yrs ago I had an instance of having freinds associated with nevil and I did have a chance at trying the work he was doing with that superskunk he found and bred with his haze…I can’t quite put validity and time on the male he used in that haze but crossed to that skunk he had, it blew me away and everyone who was in my presence around the time said the same thing…it cut through everything at the time and I believe that cerebral highly acidic skunk that I’m seeing versions of here 20 yrs later crossed to his famous haze tore through a lot of the competition at the time…I do believe in my heart though that the male he used to make that creation is no longer with us…and the validity and providence of what skunk he used is…but one high singled out of 3 or 4 in 30 yrs toking some of the best weed on earth and nevil had his name firmly stamped on my historic list of the guy who had the oil formula worked down to an artform…
I hope you serve nevils work with the care it deserves.!!!..bless you
Don’t happen to have the 1988 SeedBank catalog do you? It’s one of the few I’m missing
Yes. He sent me 86 to 90 plus the 86 printed order form
mm
Don’t suppose you could post every pic of the 88 catalog clearly so I can compile them into a pdf for all of us?
I’ve found a bunch of rando pics allegedly from the 88 catalog, but not all of it in its entirety and definitely no pdf of it
Killer link. Bookmarked.
You ever seen one of the first ones nevil put out HolyAngel ? The ones with the oaxacans, columbians, nigerians, nepalese ect ect. He had some great stuff in his collection before skunkman even got to holland. Sometimes I wish all those pure seedlines he had were preserved. Unfortunately allot of those he lost in raids. I think that Nigerian silk that goes round is one decended from nevils earlier catalogues. Has anyone seen anyone that still has his nepalese ? I would love to see that again.
Slightly off topic, so sorry guys. But @medmanbrand did you see any pictures of the llanos colombian x white widow plants. I was wondering if some pictures do exist, maybe if you could put some up here please. I’d be very interested in seeing how that colombian widow turned out. Thanks man.
The Nigerian Silk and JJ’s Nigerian are a particular obsession of mine, as I understand it the NSilk was Seed Bank Nigerian x NL5Haze from one of the early years of Nevil’s sales, definitely pre-1990 stock. It could have been the pure Nigerian from the first year of the Seed Bank x the NL5Haze here in the US, I am trying to find a post by JJ talking with Nevil about it on the Mr Nice forums:
I did find this in @mufafa ’s transcript project, from the first third of the JJ PotCast episode, but I believe he’s referring to the Nigerian Silk cut that he was given in the early 2000s.:
“ people, I think, once they try it, they’re interested in growing it.
And my phenos are growing about 70 to 77 days.
So with the breeding that I have done, it originally started with NL5 haze times
the Nigerian, and then back crossed into the Nigerian,
and then crossed into the mango haze.
And that’s what made the mango Nigerian.
And that was basically an earlier sativa string,
because there was a little bit of indigo with the NL5 in it.
And then also the Nigerian was an early finishing sativa,
then crossed into the mango.”
The Nigerian landrace has recently been identified as an acclimated Uttakarhand genetic brought to Africa a very long time ago, my guess would be by Southeast Asian traders coming to the East Coast, likely Ethiopia or Eritrea, maybe the Sudan, sometime around 1200 AD or later in the Malian Empire period. It could be much earlier though:

There’s a grower in Maine who I’ve seen doing lots of work with the Ethiopian Banana from Bodhi and Doc D who’s got a more current Reddit account I think, but he might be the only person still holding the Silk, though I think it’s probably the Silk BX not the original cut unless that survived out there somewhere:
That jj’s Nigerian haze cut going around is a herm risk. Balls all over the bottom within 3 weeks.
Thanks. Do any of the guys still have access to the Nigerian in pure form?
Im guessing and its probably highly likely that all that pine and camphor is coming from the 5hz thats was in it. Gets sort of confusing as to what they still have or exactly whats left. Or if all they have left is the Nigerian x 5hz and then crossed to mango haze aswell. I know the mango haze has been worked quite abit to be a dominant breeder for its specific traits. Is it now thats the only version remaining, if so there is going to be alot of specific nl5hz traits in that strain The mango will take a few generations before you can start adjusting some of the traits that have been locked down as dominant in it.
I wonder if the herm thing is because at some point the other strains that were introduced to it weren’t planed and actually came from accidental pollination via something stress hermieing. Then theyve continued with those seeds. Or a plant from those seeds.
I have the columbian black x ww came with my gift package
