Looks like a Cicada, harmless but very noisey

Hey that same variety of Cicada just came out here too!

@KanehB it’s a Cicada; aka: the sound of summer heard from over 1 mile away. Out ecosystem yard is rife with them so it’s a 7.2 surround sound of calls bleeding in and out of each other.

YESTERDAY WAS EPIC AND I’LL POST IMAGES TONIGHT AS I GOTTA RUN TO WORK, but *to synopsis in text:

1: AM plant check showed BUD ROT starting in the Manitoba Poison due to the crazy humidy and no sun the past few days. I’ve been plucking curling leaves but still dead matter hidden started the bullshit.
2: 1hr commute to work
3: Work 10am-6pm
4: 45min commute home
5: 6:55pm-12:30am; crop/trim-jail/4-bucket wash (H202, Lemon/Baking soda, Water, Water)
6: Pass the fuck out.

Here’s the proof:

Have a great day everyone! More pics tonight of the DONKY :eggplant: 's!!!

Aww yeah, congrats on first harvest of the season! What are those big metal scissors ? Looks like they’d last a lifetime or two.

Heya @Pigeonman what an early harvest !!!
Where does Manitoba Comes from?
Is it an auto?

This was from a trade with @jessethestoner whom got them from a friend that ran it.

The original cultivar was bred by Great White North from unnamed African varieties, Manitoba Poison thrives outdoors in temperate northern climates and grows about 4 feet tall; which is why i wanted it for 2022’s outdoor run after 2021’s PM and Bud-rot nightmare!

From the description it’s 100% what I would have expected; BUT the early finish was because I sparked in early in 2022, sexed the plants that grew, and then put the sole female (this plant) back into veg… where it STILL started flowering?!?

We are all confused but essentially it held flower in reveg, then vegged out WITH the flowers and then went ape-shit putting on the bulk as the summer kept creeping along! I’m overwhelmed in the best way and thursday was like a brutal camping trip: horrible in the moment but wonderful when you think back on it knowing you were able to get through the ordeal

UPDATE: Auto’s Round 2 & UK Cheese

The autoflowers are blowing my mind in comparison to Round 1. IF i do any auto’s outdoors again it will be later in the season versus the earlier set as these are already so much larger.

Up close each has their own personality in growth.

The UK Cheese is a giant and each branch has 4x the noding that I’ve ever seen on this strain which I assume is due to the application of @budbusterpro !

This plant is gonna be epic(er) come harvest time.

5 Gal bucket lid for size reference.

I’ll never get tired of looking at this section of my yard ever.

This was all at 7:30am this morning and it was already so gross that Mickey was “broken”:

This little guy  .

All the best folks and thanks for stopping on by!

UK Cheese; stacking and stacking and stacking!!!

The autoflowers are making me proud. If I am to do any autos again outdoors I will aim for them to come outside mid-end of June to get these results again. :+1:

Very pretty indeed! :relieved: Your “Wow” Plant of the group! :star_struck:

Also a stunner! :hugs:

I’m loving the soundtrack this week too, if it weren’t for the fact that we’ve had a skunk :skunk:roaming the un-fenced yard, I’d be out walking the grass and grounding while I type this. :footprints:
I’ll be adding to Spotify! :cyclone:

Thanks for the update. All your plants look wonderful. :green_heart:

@Pigeonman, we’ve been looking into creating bird seed/suet cakes with native(to our region) seeds! We’ve been having issues with birds distributing seeds invasive to us in store bought seed. It’s the worst when your trying to restore an area to natives.

But we had way too many black oil sunflower I’m out prairie last year, nearly 20ft high.

Also, I dig the new avatar, although I haven’t quite deciphered it all. :+1::heart_eyes:

Thanks! It’s one of the Dali-AI generated images from @Northern_Loki 's thread. I freaked out when i saw it as: It has MY HAIR, MY GARDENING SHIRT, and I do wear a red-sun visor when gardening to shield the eyes!

There were more brooding ones I liked but this was actually just skynet stalking me and then making the image so it HAD to happen.

We have no choice about that here in Toronto so we’re embracing the black oil & a bunch of other types of sunflowers on the property in addition to all the native food we let grow for them.

Once the heads get to a certain size the squirrels take them down and do most of the re-seeding for us instead of the birds lol.

I do have 2x Hazenut trees (1gal) coming in September! Gonna be making walking sticks, canes and making stuff with the nuts in a few years time lol.

Dude, if you make walking sticks, find yourself a “Harry Lauders Walking Stick” bush. Grows REALLY knarly like, seen some insane sticks made from it…

That blackstrap sure is a pretty girl!
