Perfect! I was just telling my buddy yesterday that we should chop the next Frankie at 8.5-9 weeks to see the difference, since the one we already harvested went 10. When we get together next time, let’s trade some samples.

Frankie bag Dissected

the roots in the bag in its self where very well developed

Very dense root system

Very few roots made it into the net pot . But a great deal of roots where poking through the bag and stopped just before the water line . this is not what I’m used to seeing at all

So why did this happen ? Not enough perlite in the mix ?
I added 25 % perlite to my promix bx like usual the promix already has perlite in it .

Just the fact how dense the root system was in the bag and how few where in the reservoir is perplexing.

I’m going to transfer the small mom into the Octopot instead of a clone ( root system mush bigger )
And veg her a bit longer ! I’ll see if I should root prune or not
Pruning the roots should encourage root growth !

When I originally transferred the clone into the Octopots from the solo cup the roots where established

I also used mycorrhiza and rhizotonic when transplanted them for root development

Ok @Jetdro @ifish @ShiskaberrySavior @eskobar

whats your thoughts?
I do believe the P and K deficiency which also caused a ph swing I missed had a great deal to do with it ( as @ifish spotted and Alerted me )

Hi Paps,

I saw the same thing, little Frankie root development in the reservoir, when I grew the original clones. I think that was related to having a full rez right from the beginning.

That allowed the bottom of the bag to be fully saturated just when the roots were headed down. I reckon they found the bottom of the bag, full of moist nutes and just called off the search?

In any event, I kept the rez level low this run and the fem frankie S1 seeds seem to be developing roots in the rez normally. All four of my frankie plants hit the res in a week and have since then began adding more roots daily. This is about a week after the first root emerged from the netpot.

Don’t know what all that means, but thought I’d share it for consideration.

Thanks @GrouchyOldMan

For sharing

I definitely will get some Frankie fems for safe keeping just in case I kill the mom

Maybe she is a lite feeder, and it’s her way (reduced root mass) to regulate.
The roots look stout with no to little hair roots, I see in my aqua trays with some plants.
It’s a guess, a work in progress, LOL!

Next grow I’ll definitely dial her in better

Thanks Webe !

Your stuff is always dialed in!! My theory maybe full of shit, it was more just an observation. The auto pot grows I’ve followed along with all had big fluffy root balls.
The nice air gap is sort of like a Kratky set up? I think anyway.
I’m just now playing with the OGBIOWAR microbes, as I jumped on that offering Cap, and code he gave out. I added up my order, typed in the code, and got $85.00 OFF the total price.
The first I used was the Foliar, dude over night they boofed up!!
I then used the Nute pack, and again, boof!
The root pack, I think I’ll drop some cuttings into clear cups, use my Recharge on half, ogbiowar root pack of the other. I can see the difference then.
Right now, I’ve never use any microbes more potent than these are showing!!
Have a great end to this year, and I wish you and yours all best for the new one coming, man!!

When you plant into the octos you want rez level LOW…first mark, no more. IF you fill to 2nd mark, soil will wick up to about halfway up the sleeve. Roots will stop there. I keep it at mark 1 or a touch below until i see VERTICAL GROWTH, then up it to 2nd notch. after that 2nd fill, i will fill to level 3 on the sticks.

MY WC never got to the REZ. BECAUSE i used 4by4 pots with my turbo start, they let way too much water go SIDEWAYS, not DOWN.

I have sincve planted 6 from Dixies with good roots and all 6 took in 6 days or less, no struggle no drooping.

Very nice and clean. For some reason it want let me post on some topics.
