And I remember 25 cents a gallon for gas and 25 cents for a pack of cigarettes in the machine. 10 cents for phone calls and 10 cents for a cold bottle of coke. How much is a pack of cigs today? I couldnāt afford that rotten habit today.

When I started driving gas was still under a dollar a gallon, smokes were 5 bucks.
Now: cigs more like 10 a pack, except when I lived in NYCā¦$15-16!!!
The owner of the bodega down the street used to keep a few cartons of ciggies behind the counter that mysteriously didnāt have tax stamps on them, and equally mysteriously, brought the price down to $9. Only neighborhood locals got the cheap packs!

I remember 89 cent gas and when cigs were like $3. I remember when cigs were in counter displays and end caps at convenience stores and were really easy to steal for a hoodlum 12 year old! Iām not even 40! Not far away from it though. The Jacks cigarette endcap at Wawa was very good to me.

One of our local auto parts stores had a coke machine that was set.to.charge five cents and although sodas were.costing the owner 7 or 8 cents he left the machine in the Lobby stocked with coca cola in the small.bottles.
He also had a machine shop in the back and could rebuild motors

I think I quit smoking when a pack got to $2, that was just crazy. A round of bottled beer was $5 for the five of us with tip, and it wasnāt in a cheap bar, full band. Forget about finally having self driving cars, had them back then, I surely do not remember driving home.
