Pure sativa light regimen?

If you’re running a pure sativa stain outdoors, would you start it indoors on 18/6 then out to 12/12?

Or 12/12 from the get go?

Where is the sativa from? Most of them are good outside right away. Some need veg. Most will get MASSIVE

@MiG was telling me about that too…

It depends on the season.
In the summer I put them right outside, because they will not flower right away.
I like to veg them for a while.
In the winter, I put them outside all day but then after sunset, bring them inside under HIDs to give them more light so they don’t flower right away. After they veg for a month or so I let them flower.

If you let them flower from the get go, how big will they get…?

I have frequently done that starting with sativa seeds.
However…
Depending upon size of container and other variables, they could still get “too big”.
So, ideally the best way to control the size/stretch of mostly pure sativa is to take clones, then start 12/12 as soon as the clones show roots.
Clones flower quicker and do not stretch quite as much as sativas from seeds. Either way, I gave up wrestling with indoor sativas a long time ago…some of them seem to eternally stretch…they get like vines I have to tie into a pretzel!
I much prefer growing sativas outdoors.
More room and better flowers.

All your questions have big answers. The size depends on what cultivar it is. What the weather is like. Is it cloudy or sunny mostly? Lots of rain? Planting in a pot or in the ground? Are you making good soil or are you using go box in coco with lots of aeration?? There are a lot of factors that contribute to the answer you are looking for.

In your case @MadScientist does it matter how big they get? You are just trying to get a few grows under your belt, so go the less stressful route. Keep it simple and fun.

I’m talking about Punto Rojo Colombia by CannaBioGen. It says it takes 22 weeks to finish flowering. Will be doing it in a 1.5cb/ft Formula 707 bag, out in the patio. The weather is mostly sunny but with rainstorms. For nutes will be using KNF inputs. And Azamax along with BTI for pest control.

This is the one…

In your case, i would start small and slow. Veg them to at least five nodes in a smaller container. You don’t want to go straight to the final container with photoperiod plants.

if i veg it for three or four weeks it will be like ten feet tall that plant… Eveyone will notice it! LOL

If you put it in a big container, you will have issues with watering correctly. The plant will veg for a few weeks even if you give it 12/12 from seed.

I dunno what to do man… Different methods and experiences…

I’m only bringing it up because you have had watering issues in the past. Long flowering varieties can be tricky to keep happy for 22 weeks. I really want to see you do well. You are on the right path, just beware of the pitfall. Starting in the final container only applies to autos.

Lesson learned…

Will see once it comes to the sunny season here, the plant will have 12 hours of direct sunlight everyday…

I will have to start it early in the season to make sure it finishes before the rainy season comes along again, i mean 22 weeks it’s close to six months…
