question on led's

i have been growing with 1000 watt hps and mh.for a very long time. they work great, but i would like to use less power. im thinking that if i can get the same results from a led array, i could potentially save some dough. is there a led setup that can equal that in light output that actually works? are they switchable to use the same ones for grow and bloom? to offset my desire for that knowledge i offer up something i learned lately: instead of using the gh spigots for their 6 gallon containers, what actually works without leaking is the ones from the home brewers containers. they show 9 threads that run straight after the gasket, no taper like the gh ones. those straight ones work. you are welcome.

So I’m sure you’ve head before, but the QB game is running strong right now.
If you dint have enough cash for an HLG, the homies from kingbrite can hook it up. reliable , and same diodes and build, just about a hundred bucks cheaper lol
They’re only on alibaba I think tho

What size tent are you rocking?
Sadly the boards are not capable of switching , but the Kelvin output is what you really need to look at. They do have newer boards that have a IV/UR switch to throw on for deep red at the end of flower.

I can also attest to King bright being legit. Also @PoppaPuff was extremely happy with his purchase. If you’re looking to replace one 1000w hps. You’ll need around 600 watts of led. They’re 480w light builds go for 320$ shipped. You’ll b hard pressed to find a better deal.

They say a 500w from the wall LED will yield about the same a 1000w hps but that’s not true. I’m guessing somewhere between 600w and 1000w. You are able to keep the lights closer with led than hps but that will also give you a smaller footprint.
A 500w led is good to flower a 5x5 space if that helps you decide. I have a spiderfarmer sf4000 (460watts) in a 3.5’ x 5’ room.

There is also a small savings to be had on the ventilation side.

I’ve got 6 of those kingbrite boards. I love them! The driver produces heat so you might consider mounting it remotely outside of your tent. These boards are bright! Be careful with how close you put them to your plants. They don’t produce a lot of heat so the light intensity can be deceiving. Start at about 30" above during veg, and slowly lower over time. Mine are at about 18" in flower.

If you wanted to build a light you can build a bridgelux led strip array for about $350 or so. That’s a light with 42 strips and 2 drivers running at 640w combined and about 100k lumens (on paper).

Thats for an light array for a 4x4 btw

thanks for all the input. much appreciated. now i have a few avenues to pursue. good karma to you all!

Depending on where you are if you were to switch it would save you ~$20 a month on power. This is not insignificant if you factor in the lifespan of the fixture.

All the best

I did 470 g with 400 watt bridgelux eb lights. Could done more if I had 10L pots instead of 6.5L so easily 1.5 up to 2 g per watt with them !
