Yeah the amazon one’s would usually be some cheap chinese made crap but get the job done nonetheless. Usually just a pid and some wire and the titanium nail. The physics of it are real simple so I just find it hard, personally, to justify multiple hundred dollar expenses myself. I get the bezo’s stigma, he doesn’t need any more money

That have so many cool toys nowadays… 
Back in the day my buddies and I had a couple table knives we used for hot knifing hash and seeds. That led to a DIY rig with a car lighter, push button and a 12V transformer. Definitely better stuff to work with now.

That’s a nice nectar collector but damn is it expensive. Here’s a similar Yocan product for 1/4 the price.
I love the Dive mini because of the glass piece you can fill with water. No loading with nectar collectors, just touch the wax and inhale. Almost too easy to get ripped at any time of day.

Yeah, that looks good, too. I like the price for sure. So what do you do? You just put a piece of wax/shatter/whatever on that bulb thing and hit it? What’s the inside made out of? Like where the smoke actually travels through? Plastic? Metal? Glass? I like the Peak that @ReikoX suggested because you’re hitting it through glass. Plastic/metal weirds me out.
One of the things that’s making me laugh is that I’m having to read the instruction manuals on all of these things haha. It’s like, okay, I’m looking at this rig. But I don’t understand how it works haha! Watching videos and shit just to see how you do this…

Okay, I just watched the video at the bottom of the page of the Yocan link you sent me. I think I’m gonna get that and just order like five of the replacement glass attachments, too, just because I’m sure those’ll be getting broken pretty quickly. Maybe I’ll order the Peak, later.
Side-note: one of the things I like about those videos is watching the reviewer get progressively higher as they demonstrate how the things works haha!

The glass bulb is a bubbler mouthpiece, it doesn’t come in contact with the wax. The other end is a coil. You press the button, it heats up the coil, you touch the wax to the coil and inhale through the bulb.
All glass pathway would be great but this little cheapo ain’t it. Metal on the inside I’m sure, like the rest of their wax pens.

Yeah, I watched that video and saw how it works. I like it. This one seems like the one to get before I start dropping 300 bucks on some other shit.

Yeah can use it without the bubbler, and instead of nectar collector you can try just loading a normal coil atomizer. Those are nice to pre-pack and have ready for a quick trip.

Yeah, but… I see professionally made presses starting at about $420. I’m all about DIY, but I don’t know if it’s worth it in this instance. I never see homemade presses on Youtube either.

Hey different stokes for different folks. I just know that for under 500 its gonna be nearly impossible to find a press with large plates that can apply a sufficient amount of pressure. I’m no expert but that’s just the info I’ve gathered.

Fair enough. Honestly, I just want something cleaner to smoke or ingest. Solventless dabs are some Star Trek level shit. The hair iron and a clamp seems to be legit. That would be under $75. I’ve seen some presses around $150, but it looked kind of janky.
I think the Nugsmasher mini was the $420 press.
There’s a few more, Pure Pressure is one Ive seen in the videos. And I think the Canuk Grower guy uses “Low Temp Plates” - not sure if that’s the actual brand name, but it’s what it says on the plates.
I’d be happy with a hydraulic jack that’s hand operated and I don’t need digital controls or programs. I think that should be doable for $250ish. But I haven’t seen one yet.

I agree with @JBow918 (and everybody else who’s chimed in). I researched presses and everything for about a week before it occurred to me to start this thread and get the opinions of people who have actually pressed weed. And during my research, it became pretty obvious that you get what you pay for. It’s been my experience my entire life that using cheap shit sucks the joy out of whatever it is you’re using the cheap shit for. Like when a kid says they wanna learn to play guitar and their parents get them some garbage guitar and the kid loses interest immediately (I am not that kid, I had a mom who knew what the fuck she was doing haha). It’s not the kid’s fault, it’s just that playing a cheap guitar sucks.
I figure I could start cheap, but the whole time I’d be wishing that I had bigger plates, a stronger press or whatever. Might as well just spend an extra couple hundred bucks right off the bat and not have to upgrade later. But I definitely get being on a budget. Luckily, I’m not in that position right now. Talk to me in two years, though… I’ll be on overgrow.com asking people for seeds and shit…
BTW, I’ve seen tons of DIY press videos on YouTube. They’re everywhere, just search “DIY rosin press.”

That’s correct. This is the basic premise of “nectar collectors” in general. No loading coils or nails, just touch the collector tip to the resin and inhale. I keep this pen down near my press. As soon as my squish is done I collect it into a jar and rip it from the jar.
