Those are great pics. Of all the time I spent in that part of the county, I’ve never been in that section of Georgia. I’ve been on the coast and up but not the swamp or all of those lakes over there. It looks like a fisherman’s paradise.
I grew up on the cane poles, too. But after living out west for 15 years I learned to fly fish and brought that back home. I may have had more fun fly fishing in the south than the Rockies, too.

Those came poles taught me a lesson…my dad has been handicap all my life loosing the use of his right arm in the 70s in a motorcycle accident…when we would go fishing he used the pole at the little private pond…sunfish city…and bass and cat, anyways it literally amazed me watching him snatch those bream clean out the pond over head and land about 15/16 ft away…depending on cane pole…lesson: pops is strong as shit in that arm…do not try him. Lol. Forever noted.

That’s cool bro. The place I lived in west Texas before I moved had a patch of that cane… King Cane maybe… anyway, it’s the same thing they make the poles from. I need to go back one day and bring some back.
I was going to make one but life got in the way. I looked it up and I think it would be a blast. You tie a brick or heavy weight to the thin end and then hang it in a tree or something, by the fat end. That way it will dry perfectly straight.
I forget what they finished it with. It may be shellac… I haven’t fished with one in decades.

Like you guys, i grew up fishing with my dad too. Except where I live in California, it was trout fishing in the creeks of the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains and trout, bass, crappie and cats in the lakes.
My dad passed back in '93 and I’ve missed him dearly all these years, but I’ve really missed the fishing trips we would go on. My dad didn’t care for long hair, heavy metal music or stoners much, but we always got along great on those fishing trips… despite me being all those things he didn’t care for! He had his Budweiser and Johnny Walker and I had my weed and Wild Turkey.
Whether it was hunting, fishing or camping… a good time was had by all!! I miss that!

I grew up fishing the Sierra Nevada myself, still live there as a matter of fact and still just about the only thing to do up here besides hiking and wood cutting lol

Lonepine creek or Kennedy meadows are some of my favorite spots and of course the mighty Kern River.

Kennedy Meadows is a short drive from where I’m at, spent alot of time hiking out behind there, drinking at the bar, even spent a weekend up there for a wedding once. Fishing is better a little lower down but the atmosphere is great.

That looks like a beast and in it’s element.
If they’re semi short I may try them outside. I have a bed with roses and enough space between them to grow weed. I was thinking about it yesterday. I want to find any indica or faster flowering/shorter structure to grow there.
I’ll pay more attention to the roses if I have pot there too.
