Seed Banks - Who can we trust?

That’s a fancy way of saying they have no idea and are just selling seeds of unknown lineage.

no, it’s a fancy way of saying they aren’t going to tell you.

Ok, now this we can agree on. I guess it depends what precisely we mean by trust; I think it’s important to know the genetics, especially since a lot of us here are pollen-chucking ourselves. If you’re not pollen-chucking and have no reason to care about the genetics, only the results, then yeah - they’re trustworthy in that they’ll send you the seeds they promise. I guess the outcomes are stable enough, they’re certainly staying in business. :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t buy it, there’s a reason why they don’t tell you and it’s because they have no faith in what they are actually selling, imo.

i’d buy what you are selling if you can tell me how to protect their work legally from having others copy it?

Don’t let that actual cuts out that you use for breeding. Seems pretty simple.

well, when the strain is tropicanna x tangie…so a back cross, how do you protect it? anyone can make it. I can make in less than 6 months.

If you are worried about people trying to do their own repros, maybe don’t sell plants or seeds? By that same argument people shouldnt do open pollination runs. Are you saying you want people to patent plants like Monsanto or something?

Ive had a lot of experience with the most recent HSC cut of BBM. Which I believe is now an F8. It’s strong (iirc testing around 28%), smells shockingly like its namesake, and is a very resilient and vigorous plant capable of yielding quite well in general, though can’t speak on it in relation to concentrate yield yet.

On a general note, The HSC bashing really needs stop. They are a company that has line bred a lot of of their selections and stands behind their work. They do very large hunts to select plants and offer up a lot of interesting and stable genetics and are generally well regarded by other breeders.

i just got silenced by the website. lame. if you want to help HSC maybe have the thread on HSO blueberry muffin changed.

In 2024 there is zero reason to go with white labels.
The real deals are far too available and cheap to even think about pinching a few pennies on white labels.

Or it isn’t lol Buy and grow whatever floats your boat

Who silenced you?

yup I used to grow black cherry soda around 2015. I’ve been trying to get it back ever since I lost it, haven’t found the real thing since.

Or do your own breeding.

the site. it gave me some warning message in green background on right side of the text box that i was interacting with just 1 person. then this one post it kept making greyed out. i just gave up and cancelled it. it started working again when i went to another browser.

That’s just not a realistic option for lots of people.

So the site didn’t silence you, there was an issue with a browser.

Sorry not browser…another tab.
