This run, I open pollenated them with minimal male selection to produce F2. JS#6 is the best female plant of the F1 generation from my grow, IMHO. The seeds that came from JS#6 are now F2, because it’s now the 2nd generation from the original F1 cross. The seeds I distributed will have the most phenotype variation of any generation from here out, so it will require more searching from the F2 seed batch… Ideally, as many plants as possible.
What I’ll do next is take seeds from the JS#6 female plant, and grow a bunch of them and select a male or males that I like, and cross those to several good females, also from the JS#6 seed F2 seed batch. Then I’ll smoke bud from all of the female plants, and when I find the one I like the best, I’ll choose the seeds from that plant as my F3 generation.
This is where any interested party can freely join the cause – Simultaneously, other people might grow out JS#6 seeds as well and produce their own F3 generation seeds. If they want to send me some of their seeds, I will grow those out along side my F3s. I’ll repeat the whole process over again, picking the best of the best from mine and everyone else’s seeds that contributed. I’ll cross the males I like, and choose seeds from the female(s) I like best and those will be my F4s. And I’ll distribute back those F4 seeds to everyone who helped out.
Then the process continues over and over again (for me at least) until I have a batch of seeds where every plant that comes out is .
Basically, the goal I’ll be trying to get to is a batch of seeds where every plant that comes out is as good or better than the JS#6 that I just grew. I can’t run hundreds of plants at a time, so I’m going to extend out my selection capability deeper into filial generations by breeding together a few good plants in each generation. Searching through the F2 generation is probably the most critical point in any IBL, so I’m throwing it out there that if anybody wants to grow a bunch of their JS#6 seeds and give me some seeds from their best selections, it’ll help get the overall numbers up. I will also repay you with a lot more seeds that are even more stable when I take mine and everyone else’s F3 seeds to create the F4 generation.
It’s not too anything too complicated. You just have to be able to run a few males and females, at least enough to do some selection. If anyone is interested in participating, I can start a thread and we can help each other through it. We just have to work out a few logistics, mostly just to agree on an overall deadline to get F3s back to me. We could set a date a year out from now if necessary. I have a big pile of fresh seeds, so no rush – but I do want to keep some momentum going.

It’s a really awesome flavor. I’m really excited that the best pheno from my pack was in this grow, and I’m ecstatic that you all get a chance to look through the F2s of #6 and experience it for yourselves. I still have plenty of seeds to do a pretty expansive search

Anyone get 2 Plants from 1 Seed?

ive been growing pot for over two decades, but I have never seen two plants come from one seed…until now. I started some f3 g13nl2 x ogers kush. Beans all looked totally normal; there were no indicators that this seed would be different… See photos. two sprouted from a single seed. i planted them and once both came up, i separated them and re-potted them… few weeks later, they look fine. One tall (probably a male) and one short (probably a female). So its not a problem, per se, but it does rais…

A suggestion…let us note the variance of males and females in the doubles. Also will we have identical or fraternal twins?

@Olbrannon Was thinking about that the other day, came to the conclusion that fraternal twins would produce two separate seeds in the same calyx whereas two plants coming out of the same seed would be identical.

Anyone else have an opposing opinion? Would love your input on the idea.

I would ask division before or after pollenation? No way to say? I should think if the twins revealed a Male and a female the progeny should be an inbred line if crossed?

Well I plan on letting them go so we’ll see what happens. The JS one seemed to both come out of the same stem, whereas the JSxBD had 2 distinct white stems bending up out of the soil from the start.

Yeah, if it divided beforehand I would expect the result would be two separate ovaries, hence two seeds. If it splits after pollination I would expect it to be one seed with two plants inside of it.
