Chop day

I’m not sure these ever fully revegged, but I pulled a few sample buds and found nice brown seeds. I had to chop them, because I spotted some botrytis starting to take hold. I cut all the buds and sprayed peroxide to keep it at bay while they dry.

Buds separate into nice golf ball sided nugs. Lots of pine smells coming through during the cut. We’ll find out how many seeds we have in about a week!

Here’s a few bud shots. Love the calyx structure on them. Nicely shaped nugs too.

This was the taller of the two (the one that didn’t trigger much purple). She threw a nanner or two, but was pretty stable otherwise. I think if I was growing her outside it’d probably be cold enough to trigger her to purple. I could see it faintly in the leaves. Not like her sister, that turned a dark shade of purple all over the calyxes.

I think we got seeds. Two females and I’m not even halfway through the lot.

Here’s the one that purpled indoors in my ~65 degree basement. Smells from here were also rather piney, a little hashy and a bit of bubblegum. I’m impressed with the resin and bud density. Seeds bursting out all over the place.

I’m going to get mine going today. You say they don’t get too large? I may put a couple in between my roses. It has the best local dirt in the yard. It’s on the west side of the house and gets some rough sun, so I don’t know. The hose is right by it. I’m hoping to find some shade cloth to use this year and see what I can do with it.

They are pretty compact but I’ve seen 8’ bushes in a greenhouse :+1:

So we have “root porn”, “show us your grow porn”, “bud porn”.
I guess we could say those last few pics as being the “money shot”.

Great work!

that ‘but’ will darn near put the kabob in most things, unless you have a little, just a dab of “Oh Well, We (or usually I) Have Gone This Far, FR**K It, In For A Penny…” You know how the rest of this story goes.

Hi @Hashtree @lefthandseeds
Paonia—what a cool blast from the past to hear that name again! I have such fond memories of P-bud! Thank you for caring enough to carry on these lines. I was on Grateful Dead tour during the late ‘80s and early ‘90s—back then the US was a weed desert once you left the east coast (NYC specifically—that’s where I’m from originally). The cross-country drive back to California after east coast tours was a long one. It was often a tough ride and it was all about hanging on until we got to Colorado—hanging on until we could get to the P-bud. God bless the good people of Paonia—an oasis of growers in a time when they were few and far between.

Those of my age are extra grateful and extra amazed by the revolution in the US weed world. People really did overgrow the government…

Keep the flame…

Hey, thanks for sharing the story! I’m really excited these are getting out there, especially to folks like yourself who remember smoking it back in the day.

It’s a pretty surreal time for cannabis.

Fuckin right it is. I remember when I would travel hours to find someone with white widow. Now we’re spoiled for choice, if we know where to look…

I have 3 sprouted. They were really slow to sprout. I had some G13/hp, and Ortega that both popped in 2 days in dirt. I had already taken everything out of the seed tray and put in pots. Finally 2 PPP started popping, but 2 didn’t.

They were really slow to get going, too. I gave up on the other two and let them dry out. Then a couple of days later I had misted the seed tray again to keep the cells around the two that sprouted, humid. Damn, if the next day here comes another PPP peeking out, lol.

So, if anybody had slow sprouting seeds, please be patient. I might put any others in a paper towel so I can see it. I’m going to be putting them in the ground somewhere, real soon. Still a little small.

Edit: I think I’m going to pop bunch more and get them ready to give to people. all ready to grow. I have a few friends that will be where they’re at forever. Then I can go up and personally pollinate a few branches for them when the time is right, and the cycle continues!

This was my observation as well. I think they’re just very inbred at this point – which is actually pretty great if you want to use them in a hybrid. 4P Haze I’m expecting to see a decent consistency as a result, despite the panama haze being an F1.

They start out slow, but once they get into the adolescent stage, they really pick up the pace a lot more.
