Seed Trading, Moderated (Part 3)

U thought about the White Widow 90s?

His gear is legit, he is collabing with karma so his shit is the shit.

there are some more oldscool, and the amount of strains is so low, that i think all is legit.

First in hearing of it, thanks for the heads up! But the 80% indica thing? The WW I know is pretty balanced and can lean either side.

he gives him credit, so i meanā€¦ his selection
i think the real white widow pheno is sativa, ur right.

but i think u have to buy 2-3 packs and hunt down the WHITE Pheno
On mr Nice (Shantibaba)s seeds

Iā€™ve heard that about Mr Nice as well. What is wrong when they canā€™t narrow down the genotypes and you have to hunt for a phenotype of a strain that even garbage white labelers have pretty dialed in? Seems fishy

Black Widow mr nice = the original original white widow.

We have to pressure him to do the tissue culture thing with his genetics, i spoke with him he has the original parantage of most of his plants.

he did not narrow down the white pheno, he just created 2 ibls and did an f1 hybrid with it.

Shantibaba contributed a lot to the cannabis genetics world. Heā€™s also part of an era and place known for deception when it comes to genetics. Anyone would be wise to be skeptical when it comes to old Dutch genetics and seed bank folks of that era

You should check out the most recent episode of The Pot Cast with Shanti. He says he recommends people buy 5 packs if there is a strain of his they really want to dig through and find a keeper of. I think he keeps his gene pools a little broader than some other breeders so the grower can make the selection they want. He talks about how he likes a balance of 25% mother expressions, 25% father expressions, and 50% a combination in a hybrid; That way the grower can choose whichever direction they prefer and have more open options.

The podcast has a lot of awesome info regarding his selection.

Dealers in the 90s and 2000s were more honest in the sense they donā€™t include a biography about a strain they just let you smoke it , called sampling, and that spoke for itself. Lol now everything has an author and witnesses and publishers etc etc. I donā€™t buy into it. I see any strain like the 80s original skunk, if itā€™s the real deal nobody wants to let it get out. And if they do it wonā€™t be cheap. Iā€™ve read threads of a guy that spent over 10k buying skunk from everyone and buying from places ppl keep suggesting its real, but that guy 10k later says it ainā€™t skunk and ima learn from his mistake. Iā€™m not cashing out for a story. An old man on another forum showed pictures of his 80s skunk he still has and wants no less than 30k for a cut. Lol Iā€™ll stick to whatever I can get my hands on and like vs digging through stories and spending lots of cash only to be able to tell another grower ā€œhe aint got itā€ :v:. When you do buy a seed and itā€™s the real deal, most of them donā€™t pop unless theyā€™re repros. Iā€™ve sourced old genetics by buying from sites with bad ratings because of bad germ rates, so in my head I understand that old seeds barely pop jist means they are old geneticsā€¦ i quickly bought all those bad review seeds and yes they barely pop but theyre authentic, ive smoked and verified myself already. Not saying all sites with bad reviews for germ rates have real stuff so donā€™t go buying a bunch if beans, read the review. You can tell a real grower who had a bad experience vs a fake review made just so you can buy from them or their buddies instead. but thatā€™s how I sourced all my fire. Even when just 1 seed popped out of 200 , I knew i had landed on some good stuff. And those genetics I wonā€™t even name and I am never letting it out. Maybe if I like the person lol

If you still have any of those old old beans you should try this method for popping them.

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/282147957_Effect_Of_Humic_Acid_On_Seed_Germination_Of_Rophanus_Sativus_L#:~:text=The%20study%20infers%20that%20humic,respectively%20after%2060%20minutes%20soaking.

Admittedly the study is using radish seeds, but really when it comes to sprouting, for the most part, unless it requires cold stratafication, a seed is a seed. This is the method I use for all my seeds, and I have gotten 20+ year old Tomato seeds to sprout and grow this way, I know my personal expierience is anecdotal evidence but it has worked for me.

1.8ml Liquid humic Acid in a 1 pint jar of distilled water will get you to the right % dilution.

Top dawg used to do a lot of work with the 10K Jack. Might be worth looking through his stock especially if you can find older packs. They were actually some of his more reasonably priced releases 100~ range.

Oaxacan would make a great auto. It could be the first stunt-proof strain!

Lol I have confidence I could stunt it!:disappointed_relieved:

I have 88g13hp from 2 different sources. Not sure i would want to get rid of them though. It would have to be someting that really intrigues me.

My friend is a member of the Ethos Genetics club and as such is sent a bunch of seeds each year. He does not grow autos at all so he sends me all the autos he gets. Iā€™ve grown a few of them and for the most part have found them to be of very good quality. Iā€™m getting ready to harvest one now, their NYCD auto and Iā€™m liking the bright green of the buds.
