Don’t like it at all.
Should give an option to view it in the old format.
And their new logo, yes big corps simplifying their logos lately and it’s trendy but gimme a break
I gave him the link to this thread, but he asked to please use the suggestion link for seedfinder.
The change make sense, growth was sturdy. RQS have cash to burn …
But damned the new ergonomic and pedigree list, my eyes are bleeding.
The interface is totally different, which will take some getting used to. I use this site often, and have for many years (since 2010??). It’s the only good place to get strain info.
People will complain about it, then adapt.
I don’t mind it. But I haven’t checked yet if the old “finder” functionality is back. But doubt that will ever come back after original founders retired.
Do you know about owners and selloffs?
Last time I had direct communication with them was over a year ago. I didn’t really know anyone there, just messaging back and forth about posting info to the site.
I saw rumors s while back that they were selling the site/name, but not sure what happened with that.
Answered my own question…
In the chat, seedfinder says I’m still chatting with the same guy as before, but the owner changed more then a year ago. The new owner wanted a complete rewrite of the front end.
the incessant need to ever monetize every small aspect!
First reddit now this!
I have to say, I always liked their old logo. Retro Space Invaders radness
Woah, what a difference. Not sure how I feel about the change.
I noticed it this morning and was very upset. I use that site all the time and I am not a fan of the new setup
I remember there was a change of leadership and people were upset that it seemed more pay to play with certain things like NL #1 changing to “purest indica” by AG Seed CO etc. Don’t remember how long ago it was though but seemed like over a year ago. There’s changing of the guard and then there’s…
a new word which is “enshitification.” It is when a company lures people in with a great product or service or platform and then over time, slowly strips away those features while monetizing the users until the experience becomes so bad that even those users leave and the site dies.
If you have an ad blocker, just turn it off and you’ll see multiple layers of ads scrolling over ads and cookie and worse injections all over.
A good example of this is google. Check out this video for more information. Just one example of many.
Also data has been #1 commodity in the world since 2019. Hundreds of companies want to know everything about you for sales… and that was before AI. Now they want every detail of every second of everything you ever do, anywhere so they can feed the algorithm.
I have an older post about. And pasted in their reasons etc. from there facebook page:
Yikes! I kinda feel sad that a huge source of information is practically useless now.
Yes, I noticed that I had to allow some cookies to use the (new) site.
How difficult would it be to make a new site? For sure database info is key, but might not be too difficult with crown-sourcing (which is how they started), and culling from other places (which is how most “strain info sites” do it - culled from SeedFinder).
To me the shitty thing about Leafly, et al, is that its all so stupidly and obviously corporate weed. The beauty of SF (and frankly the aesthetic of the site) was that it was crowd-sourced and real people - not corporate weed… Fuck corporate weed!
Anyway, it looks like someone threw down some money and bought the place. And as the old saying goes - if something is free, then you’re probably the product.
Where is the anarchist seed/strain database?
Wow… this must have happened today, as it was normal when I used it last night.
Not a fan, I wish they just updared the strains and left layout the same
I just checked some stuff on the laptop and the chart is more… usable?
I like the front page a LOT more. no clutter and the search bar is where is should be.
The lineage chart, which better on the PC/MAC/Computer(in fact I like that map/layout way more), the zoom is incredibly sensitive. At least for me, it’s unusable. Using that chart on a cell… no way! if you only had access to, or only used either a computer or cell, well that removes 50% of the traffic? I dunno, I’ve never hosted or run a site.
I’m not going to leave feedback at their requested location, simple because all that information will already be aggregated in this post. If the site owner wants it bad enough, he’ll come here to get it.
I tried to search for “Bodhi” but if I go in the search bar then it only searches through strain names and I get this
This is going to deter most people from doing the extra work to actually get to real Bodhi strains. They will probably think that the stuff just isn’t on there. The traffic would have to come from a google search or something else external.
How can I actually get to Bodhi Seeds info from the homepage?? I have to click on Strain browser and then click on strain database and then halfway down the page in a big block of text is the link
Where I can then search for Bodhi seeds
To say that is basically unusable is an understatement. It is as if it is designed for something other than information.
