The family tree was more intuitive vertically this new display doesn’t feel right to me. Hope the feedback helps
making a site is usually a matter of tradeoffs. You can choose between “I write my own code from the scratch and know what I am doing while it can be really pain in the ass at the same time”. Or you use a framework which requires updates you won’t do with your own code. Or you ask a company please write me some code. Important for every project is SQA (Software Quality Assurance), many companies, also big ones like Cisco or Microsoft, never heard about .
and however which way you choose you still have to write and debug the code, doing some front end layout and some SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
I see your point, good notice . But at the legacy page it was the same, you can use at the extended search a filter for bodhi. SeedFinder - Extended Cannabis Strain Search
(as far it is fixed )
I spent years doing user support and QA’ing updates and content for a website, making sure all of the various links work, searches behave as expected, everything is displaying properly in the various browsers/screen sizes/etc. I didn’t even do the backend stuff, and it was a lot to check and tweak for even minor updates sometimes.
I have no preference as to the site itself, just commiseration for the scale of the project. I hope the rest of the updating is uneventful!
is there a separate thread to discuss this?
@christian_seedfinder updates = growing pains…
My suggestions relate to have the Lineage / Genealogy flow chart / visualization :
The zoom in / out really is not precise, and does not hold the center point ; I may have to move the whole chart to see sections - none of which was required before
perhaps -
snap the chart of the full tree - stopping when the tree fills the screen
provide an option to snap to the first variety and make that ‘full screen’
you have a great and useful resource - figure out how to make that information accessible and easy

It now links to this thread but this is where I saw it. Now this is the only seedfinder thread.
I meant the issue regarding finest indica / nl #2
with the old system by design you were able to create an account without an email and you could manage more than one account with a single email. So there are layers to clean up and standardize part of the user accounts
I understand, no problemo.
In the old version, you offered some integration with an API. For a desperate early adopter like me, it can be a sunrise … maybe we can dial something ?
Just surfing for the pleasure in the XML green list is missing as fuck lol …
I really like the new lineage view but it needs to show more than 5 generatios. Honestly I’ve never loved getting around seedfinder but I’ve always loved the graphs
Seedfinder has the most accurate descriptions and lineage info out there. It really has become my go to for what I need to know to make a decision about breeding or acquiring new genetics. The best part I think is how detailed and far back the lineage goes. It really helps me understand the basic make up of a cultivar and how it’s been bred throughout the years
Damn, they ruined that site
Definitely not a fan. Wish I could just get the database and write my own front end since the prior user friendly front end is gone. I do admit, it is a better interface for mobile, but I do almost no work with that site on a mobile device.
I’m using Archive.org to find genealogy info from the old site: Flo (DJ Short) :: Lineage & Hybrids
Whaaat, it’s not available now?
Can’t find it anywhere and i sleeped way to much to at least have tried the first API … biting my balls now. This AI template is a purgatory.
Anything being done to fix the site? It’s worthless now that we can’t click through lineages and hybrids, that’s literally the most valuable part of the site and you’ve completely crippled it. Leafly is more helpful at this point. I don’t like being negative and it’s awesome that there was work done to modernize the site, but as a guy who has spent his career in software development, this is a failure of the highest order.
I heard they’re going to change the name to Seedhider.
I agree with ya guys. I was hoping it was “smoother” and with that, the return of longer lineage and all the we would expect from viewing seedfinder. Not all the information there was accurate but it was a good guide.
Nonetheless I was wrong. I do hope they fix it though because, as it is now, it’s not very helpful.
I accidentally went there a few times, since the change, and remembered “oh yeah, that’s right”. It’s sad when AllBuds is a better source. At least all their limited information it right at the top of the page, not beyond a gigantic rsq ad.
