Seedling problem!

So, a friend gave me some seeds, a few of them were auto flowers. I’ve never grown auto flowers. This one sprouted but the first set of leaves just won’t seem to come out. It’s been about three days. Any ideas why this is happening. It’s in coast of Maine seed starter soil.

That dirt looks way to dry! And poor quality dirt. Just a quick Google and the soil you mention doesn’t look like that, at least on Amazon and sears website.

It does appear to be quite dry on the surface. Give it a good drink of water while trying to avoid soaking the stem.

It looks fine but maybe could use some water.

It also could just be a dud seed.
I have had seeds that sprouted and never grew past that point.

Moisten soil and make sure humidity is appropriately high. Soil is probably fine as it’s a light mix. Looks like it is a lot of peat moss so you will benefit from misting first and moistening it over time if it has gone hydrophobic at all. If you have some aloe you could squeeze a bit of that gel from the leaf into your water. Any other surfactant would work fine (ThermX, saponins, quillaja, etc).

Being an auto and gifted I would just cull and replace it if it doesn’t react soon to these advice given, the clock is ticking and they literally don’t have time to run into problems, lack of vigour is not a good start … beer3|nullxnull
