It looks like you dipped them in bleach :+1:
Mine always have a slightly brown tinge to them.

Ah so it’s the megacrop staining the roots. I figured with pool shock being bleach it would stop it happening and keep things nice and white.

I’ve not got that much drive or patience bro. I’ll just live with the brown roots until they start to smell bad. If the roots smell we have a problem :+1:

Jacks nutrients are not easily available in the UK mate. I may just finish this run using the megacrop and in the meantime I’ll save up a little cash and invest in the Raw range of nutrients so I’ve got a little more control on each of the needed elements. They work out really expensive though.

I sure do love those bright white roots

Master Blend might be a good alternative for people outside the US, although mixing individual components is probably the best for fine tuning

It’s got me intrigued. I might buy a batch and play with the numbers to come up with a suitable recipe for doing a side-by-side with my current Jack’s regimen.

That is more affordable than the Raw range.
They have it on eBay and it’s less than £30 including delivery for the 2kg pack.

awesome looking roots man!!!

hey I saw only one mention of people smelling the roots. I’d like to say the smell tells you things about the plants metabolism. Anyone else here smelling roots, and if you are… are you extracting info? I look for basically no smell - normal. earthen smell - metabolism problem related to oxygen. Swamp smell - metabolism over, welcome to pythium.

Anyone measure the displacement of a good root ball? It seems even the largest root mass has almost no volume. I mean compared to what it looks like, a huge mass that appears to fill the entire bucket only displaces a liter or so of water. Once you dry the ball out, it’s like there’s almost nothing there. On the other hand, most of the mass and volume is in the center of the ball where the roots come out of the stalk. You can extract good bast fibers from there, and weave a strong rope.
Instructions: strip the outer bark from the plant stalk and boil it in washing soda. Rinse with water. Pound it with a wooden mallet or block of wood or large stick until it’s a gooey ball. Rinse it and then start carding the fibers with finishing nails on a stick. Take the fibers and twist them together using water or whatever. dry and weave the fiber! For something made in a simple way anyone could do, it really makes for a strong ass string that makes an incredible rope.

I made this fiber from my own plants. lol kind of off topic but hey!
