Last year I popped a 25 year old Jamaican seed I got while in Kingston as a kid and this beast of a male didn’t show till much taller than me. Count the tops for size, pictures do no justice. Would have easily doubled in size. 15 gallon pot. Organic.

Is there much of a relationship between the size of a male pollen donor and the size of the next generation?
It would seem to make sense that would be the case, but height may be driven more by female genes. I confess my ignorance.

I tried cutting off a few branches wit pollen sacs and put in a bag. Then tried to pollinate a small Bruce banner with no luck. Ill bet if someone could use it to pollinate a strong female it would be a freaking monster. I had to cut him early if I was gonna squeeze 2 auto flowers in before end of season.

Height is driven by male genes …the males will shoot up much faster so they can dump pollen on the females and higher the better for wind pollination also

I can usually guess which ones will be males only by how fast they pop up and head to veg, males almost always grow quicker from the start too.

Another trick I’ve found to be mostly right is once its around 4-5 nodes tall 6-12 inches if the stem is completely strait its almost always a male, if its kinda lady like and curvy its usually a female strain depending anyways.

Dude everything I’ve learned came from watching youtube, although I hardly leave my lazy boy, medical issues so I’ve prolly watched more then most could in a lifetme.
Best part of watching youtube kids is the giveaways. Couple weeks ago untrained astronaut gave away like a 5k triming machine. Every 20 mins or so they give away whatever sponsers nutrients, seeds, merch, anything. I’ve won a few times in the last couple weeks. Its definitely worth the effort.
