Solo Cup Challenge 2024

@Hashpants I lack the skills to pull those SOG plants off but I do have the naive ambition to try

I like the inverted Solo style. I could see having a slightly higher effective root volume with that technique. It’s unique :+1:

All seeds are above the plugs. Mixing up some Mapito today and into cups probably tomorrow AM after the substrate is buffered.

Frankenstein was tangled in itself, I attempted to “surgically” untangle it - let’s just say it’s a good thing I don’t do surgery on people. I think she’ll pop to life now. :crossed_fingers:

LOL, I DO distinctly remember that !
Even though my BBP was banned from the competition, I certainly appreciate the OG competition!
As a man of my word…you guys tell me who the winner was (LOL, I DON’T want to get in the middle of that !) and I’ll make sure he/she gets a 4 ozer of BBP !

Hey @HolyAngel , my apologies if I missed the post, which company did you use for your HLVD testing? I am looking for a company that doesn’t have a minimum order of 10 tests

I used 3RiversBiotech
https://3riversbiotech.com/product/virus-test-hlvd/

They have a minimum order of 5 tho  but it’s only $15 per test, so $75. I think that’s the cheapest I’ve seen overall. Only other one “cheaper” I’ve found was FarmerFreeman at $50 or $55, but that is only for one plant.

this isnt apart of the challenge but thought you all would like this

I would have kept it in the cup but it probably would have died.

I’m a few days behind, but my Lemon Stackerz is on the way. One quick question. I’ve noticed some of you have holes all over. I’ve never grown one in a cup and wondering if I’m missing something. I have holes all over the bottom, but won’t it dry out too fast if you water and it all drains out? Thanks!

I’m sorry if someone already asked this. Says roots contained in cup. Does that mean I can’t double cup? It was a recommendation from a friend, but I think they’ll come out the bottom. Thanks!!

That’s me. It’s my version of a “Solo-air-cup” as I usually grow with airpots. This allows for air root pruning as the plant grows at the cost of higher chances of a dryout so I have to check on them more often.

This is where technique comes in. I use promix so as long as it;s not totally dry it’ll wick solution really fast from either top or bottom.

In all the solocup challenges i’ve been a part of anytime roots pop out it’s expected that the grower will trim them. One year someone did hydro and kept clipping the roots out the bottom.

Little update, flowers forming.

Who’s planning the longest veg I wonder?

I was straight into 12/12, just the way it worked out timing wise…

i’m going 24/0 until they’re done.
I’m doing autos though so I guess it’s not actually a long veg
