Sour strawberry outdoor grow

Yes.

So bog did a grow show and outlined 4 main phenotypes in sour strawberry.

Hot pants, Fruity pebbles, Strawberry creme and strawberry kush.

They all have their qualities but the strawberry kush was rapidly found to be what to look for.
So growers started to find ways to identify it as soon as possible, the long middle finger and somewhat slimmer leaves is one indicator.

Another would be vigor, SS having sour bubble as a parent is not known to be a fast grower, but the strawberry kush type can grow 2x as fast as others.

Then, good stretch, basically it will tower over the others and finally the in your face strawberry hashy goodness when in full flower mode, can’t miss it.
Edit: the strawberry kush is slow to show sex, and last to finish!
Here’s one example

And mine
On the left is a normal SS, on the right is strawberry kush towering her sisters

The f3 look a lot like the f2s I grew, they still have enough variation in them to find every phenos even though I excluded the hot pants type (dwarf sour bubble like plant).

A few here have grown them out

I know what you mean…I’ve been trying to stay away from seed giveaways lately, cause I already have too many decisions to make. But then one comes up and I’m like "Oooh, that sounds interesting".

same here too i feel i need to stash up incase of the world going berserk
but in the same time hoarding is not a good habit

Just droppin’ in to report on an oddball SS that popped up outta nowhere…
Found one of the BOG Sour Strawberries went ‘String of Pearls’/Foxtail without me even noticing it! My foreman must have cut & hung it without me noticing. It was barely dry when I saw it but I cut this little pile up and rolled a nice fattie and did a garden tour w/ a visiting buddy…he gave up after half a joint! I, OG’er that I am, soldiered on and really enjoyed it. Thought I was managing to still get things done pretty well, but looking back with a couple hour’s perspective shows me it was just an illusion! :joy: But a really nice buzz I’ll be trying again! And again!

This one went rogue haha! Really interesting to see one move away from the really tight nugget structure :call_me_hand:

I have been trying to figure out if it’s my mix, my climate, or my timing, but I seem to get quite a few ‘weirdo’ phenos of strains bred by OG’ers in very different conditions. Quite often it tends towards the foxtail/String of Pearls look. One of Budderton’s Carl’s Shoes did it and a couple of the Cobra Lips. Despite being such miserable producers when it comes to weight, the resin content on the SoP plants is just crazy! I’m growing mostly for my own enjoyment (and sanity!) and making RSO for my own use so I’ll probably always keep a line of these (SoP) in the works! Wish I’d seen this one and pollinated it with the purple Black Creme Auto male.

I often associate foxtailing with high temperature and possible low humidity. Nutrients can be a factor in bud density but don’t think it can make buds push foxtails on their own…

I don’t recall seeing foxtails in any run i did but my grow environment is similar in and out :upside_down_face:

Also big yes to breeding with it, I’ve had good results with multiple crosses, although the initial skunk cross was plagued by intersex.

Overall the ss has a pleasant high, a fair proportion of them are average potency so it does need a little hunting to find the strawberry taste with sour bubble potency. #12 is still the one to beat :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yup. Seems high temp definitely improved ofds of foxtailing.

This is how not to grow ssk12

Too bad she didn’t like it here because those branches are thick enough to hold a pound per branch lol

She’s not supposed to purple like that, she got the purple blotches thing and I couldn’t bring her back.

She’s seriously lacking, proven by her hollow branches
