Spaceman’s First Holiday Auto Run

That sucks, from what I’ve read male hermies are quite rare…it would probably pass on that trait though.

Update, recovery plan now that Sunshine Maui is going sensi.

The midget Maui was uppotted into a 2 gallon pot.
Simple one bend training.

Things are looking up for the “lady who dodged a bullet” Maui.

Took 3 cuttings off the midget.
The one on the right was first and suffered from my lack of practice.

My clone method was to place the cutting immediately into tap water and then prepare my workstation.
Once I fill the 2" netpots with soaked vermiculite(distilled h2o) I remove lower leaves and cut a 45゚ at an internode, usually just above.
Scrape a 1/2" length on one side of the stem, dunk in rooting hormone and placeinto the preformed hole in the verm.
Placed in a clear box with opaque lid to keep out of direct light.
Place under lights.

Next, I uppotted the Loco Motas into 1 Gal pots and placed under the screw in Full Spectrum bulbs.

9 place, 21 watt bulb array.

More later…

Update.
Loco Mota continues to surprise,

He’s a little guy.

I’m kinda ignorant about who bred this cool plant but if this micro size is the result, I can’t help but see what a boon this baby would be to the micro cab or pc case growers.
Pretty aromatic though so stealth is somewhat compromised.

Here’s the female,

Now I was planning on fertilizing one of the Loco Motas and one of the Purple Hearts with pollen I collected from the first male earlier in this topic.

My buddy has the Loco Mota fertilized by the above fella, I get 1/2 the seed.
So I’ll hit this female with pollen from the “lil’ Loco” and 1/2 of one Purple Heart gets hit with pollen saved from the first male and 1/2 with pollen from lil’ Loco.

These sure flower early and small!
The Purple Hearts are giants in comparison, flowering very nicely.
I’ll post up pics when I train them.

One thing growing autos has made me aware of is how much I dislike the dark period for the photos!
I love spending time with them but green light just doesn’t do it and is reserved for emergencies.

During a giveaway by @ReikoX, that I bowed out of, I stated I was afraid I’d like autos too much.
Sucks being right most(all) of the time.
I’ll never abandon reg photos but autos deserve a premium spot in any growers personal seed bank.
Thanks to all that made this possible, I’m having a blast.

Edit: I forgot to mention emoji ain’t working for me, anyone else?

Update.
Well, well what have we here?

Another one too.
This one a bit harder to see.

2 out of three so far and in only 9 days!
Man that’s stellar for me.

So the above cloning technique plus indirect lit humid box, vermiculite are the take aways from this run.

Too tired to pot them tonight, first thing tomorrow am.

This is a good respite from the coronavirus topic.

One other thing, split up the stinging nettle into 5 pots.
Forgot to use gloves and paid the price, 8 hour sting session.
I’m shooting for at least 7 plants, 9 would be nice but more splitting on the way, gloves definitely.

Should make an effective screen next summer.

Bro, that shit ain’t nothin nice. I’ve learned to stay quiet clear of stinging nettles. No thank you.

Time to pot up those little rooted clones!
Taking clones successfully seemed impossible for me after my first few tries.
Ten or so years later, with many cloned plants under my belt still hasn’t dulled the joy I have each time I see those little roots.

image

Sorry, no pics of the other one which is really too bad cuz the roots on that one were sticking out like whiskers on a wino.

Here are the two successes in their new home, the third hasn’t rooted yet.

Thanks for your comments!
Too bad we can’t like a post more than once.

They made me dig up my saved txt’s on stinging nettles and, of course, I couldn’t find them.

So I duckduckgo’d 'em and found this little gem!

Update
The last cutting I took showed roots today.
I had pulled her from the verm Saturday when I potted her sisters up, not one hint of a root then.

Today here’s what I saw.

She was waiting for the full moon, which was today at 1:46 pm local time.
At least that’s the way I’m looking at it.
Impressive burst of roots, in just two days.

image

She’s(middle) in her new home under my overflow area. In a day or two I’ll get her in the 24/7 tent.

Checked the Purple Heart #2 plant that I’m drying for my bud.

12 grams or 0.40 oz

I guess the only way to find out is to experiment…

I guess if you fed the auto cuttings with some kind of tea made of another auto that has already flowered.

Autos, unlike photos, have a hormonal trigger in their root system. I can’t quite explain it as I don’t know all the terms but very shortly explained that’s the main difference, that’s why autos whatever the light schedule will flower and photos don’t.

Have you tried the purple heart? Smoke wise.

Not yet though the curing buds smell wonderful.
I’ll post up a report when I do.

Hi cc,
Just want to say my last vape session for the foreseeable future was Purple Heart that my bud gave me.

Somewhat more sedate than Tiger Jack, I find myself quite talkative and posting online more.
Wonderful aroma/taste connossieur quality imo.

The Loco Mota i had was a seeded plant similar quality high, more skunk aroma, still wonderful.

I’m gonna make them into edibles and when I do I’ll post up a side by side against TJ.

Made it back from bugout and looked at my plants. 7 days away.
I used blumat style watering spikes for extended LITFA sessions.
Here is the sativa tent with Loca Mota interloper.

Here’s what happens when you have the blumat res higher than the plant, overflow

Fixed

This one wasn’t working, never developed suction

Sorry no pics but the cone was empty, resoak 1/2 hour refill and replace, check tomorrow.

Hi misterbee, thanks for stopping by.
From upthread

Here is the light setup for the time being for the Purps
(8) 21 watt screw in full spectrum leds
They each have (7) 3 watt bulbs
** (2) blue 450-460nm*
** (2) red 620- 630nm, 650-660nm*
** (1) white 6000-6500k*
** (1) UVA 380-400nm*
** (1) IR 730-740nm*
EDIT forgot the pic!
image
The size, power and spectrum these bulbs have made it a winner for me.
From ebay — they were my best option at the time but if I was in the market for them now(actually can’t find them anymore) I would eat the size increase and buy these instead:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/120W-E27-LED-Grow-Light-Full-Spectrum-Bulb-Indoor-Greenhouse-Plants-Growing-Lamp-/173518296062?hash=item28667f13fe

And a 26 watt STTQYB UVB 10.0 led (expensive)

I have swapped out lights several times during this grow and have really stretched the original topic.

Why “auto only” tent?

24/7 light schedule for autos, they finish faster, at least that’s what it seems like.
Growing autos twice now and I realize what an inconvenience working around regular photo period plants are.
Maui Sunshine is 11/13 and she’s in there plodding along by comparison.
Still haven’t lost my taste for reg photo’s yet.
