Specializing in hot peppers

No need for frustration, gardening is supposed to be calming and relaxing. Peppers produce best in September until frost , so no hurry.

Hi! Mine will make it to their outside home this weekend hopefully. I’ve been waiting for the overnight temps to improve a bit as it’s been my experience that peppers don’t like cold feet.
I think I sowed the seeds the seeds Easter weekend, can’t remember and didn’t write it down. I did Chocolate Jalapeño, Fresno, Poblano, and Candy Cane. I could eat the poblanos every meal, we love the smokiness of them. Fresno is my favorite spicy pepper, Candy Cane just looked cool and I like to eat sweet peppers as a snack. The Chocolate Jalapeños were thrown in front the seed vendor and sounded exciting!
Yesterday, I brought them out of my tents and put them in the front window to start getting used to the sun before going into the planters.
Been a cool post to go through and see what everyone’s growing!

They are in the black pots getting some sun;

Sure, you can pick peppers whenever you like. Those look like they could be stringed and dried , ristra style.

lol thanks so once they are fully red they are good to go? Plan on drying and using for salsa and seasoning.

I have a rare variety of jalapeño I got from this Mexican family. It’s the hottest jalapeño I ever eaten by far, and hurts far more than a habanero which should not be…one day I am chopping up a bunch for my home made hot sauce, and didn’t wear gloves. I thought, they are only jalapeños…wrong! them damn things burned my hands for 3 days lol…I laugh but it was not funny at the time. Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to take a piss, but can’t get back to sleep because of the pain…
Don’t get me started on private parts lol. A few too many times…

My mystery Not-Anaheims peppers, kind of hot & scary looking.

Them ain’t Anaheims lol, you got something hot there lol. Seems like every time I do seeds, I get some kind of mystery pepper. Do they have a smoky heat or is it bitter? Looks like you grew them well!

Honestly I’m a bit chickenshit to try one. Some google research is telling me it’s a “pretty purple” pepper and on scale with a cayenne pepper.

Yep, cayenne on it’s own is plenty of heat for me.

If those came from a store bought Anaheim pepper, it is likely that the pepper came off a hybrid plant, and you are seeing one side of of the cross expressing itself.
