Spider Farmer SF2000

So everyone on here has convinced me that for my needs I only need a 2x4 tent (to yield 5-8z per run). I have also settled on the sf2000 led to use from week 2/3,on through flowering.

Originally I had decided to buy the gorilla tent. They are more expensive, but the cheaper ones ive used in the past have given me concern over pin holes caused by the stretching that the constant negative pressure puts on the tents. However another member on here, recommended I check out ipower tents. They look decent and are way cheaper, but the height of the ipower is only 5ft vs near 7 (without extension) on the ggt.

Here is were my question is. For anyone who has run the SF2000, what is the maximum penetration (yes I did!) I should expect ? I am wondering if I will need more than that 5 feet tent height with this light.

When I ran a 600 hps in a 3x3 that was 5 feet tall, the height seemed pretty restrictive. The 600 was borderline overkill in that space, but I did pretty well on a few runs. Since hps hoods take up more space than led setups I presume I could still have taller plants/ more head space with the leds ?

Tall would be my choice.

My tent is 6’ and it’s just tall enough to grow the size I like under 300w LED.

5 would be too short for me but there are ways to make that work.

Edit: I love my mars hydro tent

My current tent is 2x4x5, and it’s too short. It’s kind of a pain in the ass being that short, to be honest.

I’m running approximately 300W of LED in that space, and am not at all unhappy with the light penetration. I doubt that would change if I had another foot or two of headroom.

I’ve got two SF2000s in this 5x5. It’s plenty tall. I’ve got 6" ventilation above the lights which can still go higher. I think the stretch is done for this round. Note my plants start taller than they might be in another system because of the 18" Octopots. I have a couple in 5 gallon fiber pots that were started later and they are sitting on 5 gallon buckets. If you’ve got plants in regular pots on the floor I think you can make a shorter tent work just fine. Just don’t let them veg too long, and you might want to steer away from equatorial sativas.

Nice setup! Ive SERIOUSLY thought about running the Octopots! Lovely!

I have a SF4000 running in a 4x4 Vivosun tent that is 80" high. Barely enough room for me, but it really depends on your grow style and when you flower them (at what height, how much that strain stretches etc).
I would really like to flower with my hps but I just can’t control the temps in my current situation.

Where are you at there? Looks like the plants have been cut back significantly.

Oh man! This tent is all over the place. There are 6 in there, all Joe Fixit strain, but varying ages and pot sizes.

I was given two healthy plants and one that was struggling. My buddy had already mainlined the struggling one. I let the other two get too big and had to significantly hack them back when I put them in Octopots but left the other in the 2 or 3 gallon it came in. Then I took a clone to be a mother and, a few weeks later, two more cuttings to trade with another friend. That’s when I discovered spider mites…

I cancelled the trade, up-potted, and threw everything in to flower together. I’ve been treating for the mites and think I have them under control. I think this will be a good opportunity to see the results of different training techniques and veg times.

Sorry for the derail of the thread. While I’m off track, someone named @Icculus would probably want to know that this Tuesday at 7:30pm Phish will stream one of their greatest shows of all time - a Gamehenge performance from 1994!

Hi @Icculus,

I figured I’d throw Secret Jardin tents in for your consideration.
I’ve had my 4 x 4 x 7 for three years (pretty much running 24/7/365 this year) & I love it! Solid construction, 4 extra horizontal bars to help with negative pressure.
Only thing I’d do differently is paint the poles before assembly because the zinc plating is very thin and I tried to sanitize with vinegar and H2O2… :worried:

I’d also suggest, if you have the height, go tall. Sativa stretch can be ‘interesting’ :open_mouth:

Thanks @Gpaw. Funny you mention that brand. My old 3x3 was a secret Jardin. Was a really great tent. I actually just bought their small propagator tent to start my seeds in and probably use for clones later as well. Still havent taken it out of the package yet.

There is drama now. A couple of days ago we got a email forwarded by our landlord from the property management company. It said that someone else in the building complained that there was a “mrijauana” growing operation at our apartment, and they had concerns of an electrical fire. Interesting thing is I dont have a single plant or otherwise going on in my place. I DO have a pretty decent sized snowlotus bxv1 that I have been growing from seed on my back porch all summer. Growing is not illegal here in Colorado. Most of my neighbors all have several plants on their porch’s as well. Obviously my porch plant is just in soil in a pot, no electrical there. Regardless, the wife, who was already against me restarting is now fully on edge and not psyched on me moving forward. My plan is to retort the lady from the mgmt company’s email. I will take pics and video of the entire (600 sq ft), all showing the current time and date to attach to the email. I think I will also call the sheriffs department as well and have them do a walkthrough. I can then pass the sheriffs information along in the email. All of this can be passed on to the “concerned party” and shoved up their ass ! Not sure exactly what my next move after that will be. I will either say fuck everything and just start back up as I had planned on, or find a couple of friends that will rent me some space. I dont think that not growing is an option for me anymore

Well, whatever you decide to do you really should have your wife on-board (ish) with the plan. … OK, if she is like my ex-SIL … maybe a different plan.

Mammoth Pro are nice thicker shell and better zippers than the cheap tents.

I’m of this mindset too. Nobody ever regrets getting the tallest tent that fits their space. Vertical space feels like such a luxury.
