I wear booties and a tyvek suit when entering my big area EVERYTIME, then I have others for breeding rooms/areas etc. I also wear gloves, goggles and a mask. But there’s always a way…. My most recent acquisition was from being lax on my clone isolation/quarantine. So from now on I’m back to “that crazy guy with the moon suit just to go in his damn grows” haha they all laughed at me but in 20 years plus I had mites twice, way back. And thrips once, ever! Although I did get stink bugs once but they were outside everywhere so I’m assuming it snuck in and then down to the dungeon at my last place. Those were a pain In the ass and made my whole room smell like the little bastards too
I try to always take a dr bronners mint shower before going in mine and heat treat shoes with box/air scoop off side of dehu. I could be better about the shoes sometimes, but really I only have problems in the fall and take extra precautions then. I feel like they get in just from cracks here though, it’s an old house, I can see outside light in a fair number of gaps, the spider mites webs are visible in peoples yards yearly a month or two before I start getting problems.
I didn’t even know stink bugs were a cannabis problem, we’ve got plenty of them here but I don’t see them inside.
Back in the 90’s we were making ozone generators for our growing friends.
One type were germicidal UV bulbs about 8inches long and an inch and bit wide. These were mounted in ABS tubes and we built them in several lengths depending on how many bulbs were inside. A fan at one end blew air over the bulbs and out the other end. We built hundreds of these for Vancouver area grow stores back in the late 90’s. This was before carbon filters were a thing and the ozone was used in the exhaust stream to kill the smell of the grow room.
The other type uses electrified plates inside a section of ABS tubing or HVAC ducting. This what I still use today in the last section of my exhaust stream , mainly to kill pollen that gets past my filters so it doesn’t get outside.
If you go on youtube and search DIY ozone generators , you will find loads of ideas.
If you choose to use Ozone indoors, be sure to read up good on the safety data. As long as safety procedures are followed, using ozone is no more dangerous than a plethora of other chemicals and products we use in our daily lives.
My mentor has them in his extraction setups as well. I’ve never messed with it but would like to add those at some point to my breeding areas
I’ve never heard of it before either, but once inside (not sure how long it took) but it/they had babies, was the smell I noticed first. That smell is hard to mistake, so I started searching after realizing stem rubs, not buds smelled like that on any of my cultivars. I then found an adult, killed his ass and thought it was over, then I saw these (completely different looking little bugs) turns out they were just earlier stages of stink bugs, then I went ballistic! There were at least a hundred! Brought each plant outside, hosed em like crazy, then sprayed the whole room with pyrethrin TWICE, and let it sit while my plants suffered in the garage. Still smelled them for almost a month afterwards even with dank af buds growing. First time I ever heard of them affecting a grow at all, and hopefully the last too
That’s a wild one! I’ve got the mite issue as my biggest prob, otherwise had minor PM once at the old location and a few tops bud rot a couple times (too humid room for dense buds). Thought I had thrips once but it was probably just mites before webs started.
Otherwise I think most everything else has been pH and nutrient related issues for me.
That’s a lot of plant moving, I tend to murder all the plants if it gets bad. I’ve tried to save things late flower with vit c spray but that made the buds finish fast and not nice. If it’s far enough along I’ll freeze it and make edibles if it has to die. Looking to avoid more of that though.
These or something like that are great and cheap.
Check em all out before you buy some are made better and some are more powerful.
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
I own 3 similar to this one.
Being made in china they can look the same and be very different.

I didn’t know these were so cheap? Would one suffice for even a 4x8 @shag im highly intrigued
If you put that in a 4x8 with plants in it, they may become ill or die.
Just putting that out there.
That one should do your whole musty basement.
It could do a whole house if you have no basement.
But to kill shit in a 4x8 you probably only need to run it for 2-5 min. max.
Make sure to verify the timer is working or things could get dangerous.
You could run it several cycles rather than 1 long cycle for best results.
This reduces exposure to the outside areas.
After a cycle wait 30 min. minimum for re-entry.
If you smell a light smell of clean you are good to re-enter.
If it smells strong DO NOT ENTER until the smell is very mild.
Wait an additional 30 min.
The smell of ozone is much like the smell after a thunderstorm.
In fact, you may smell ozone after a thunderstorm as a storm creates natural ozone.
It is best to wait until you do not smell any ozone before re-entering.
That could take a while, I usually get impatient.
We have 3 cats, so the litter gets smelly quickly.
I run mine for 2-5 min. with the door closed in a 10 x 12 bedroom wait 30 min. and crack the door with a fan running to gauge the smell.
I have set the timer for too long so I take extra precautions, I am a stoner and fuck shit up all the time.
So the fan is just an extra measure.
The fan mixes the air and ozone, diluting it in a sense.
If something happens and the timer does not shut off and the ozone gets really high, you can enter the room if you must but do not breathe, if you can, protect your eyes in that case too.
I have gone in for seconds without eye protection but I do not recommend that.
Much like fire, realize the potential dangers of what you are working with and take the proper precautions.
No living plants, animals …or humans are allowed in the room with the ozone machine when it is running.
Please double check and ensure this will not happen.
Lol, same here.
I usually hold my breath and run into the grow room and throw open a window, then hightail it outta there for a while.
