Cutting up the peels?
HAH!
That requires effort, we don’t do that around here.
Like this it holds moisture longer.
Shadow also encourages faster decomposition.
That vetch in the top left is being a joker.
No idea what it’s doing but it’s amusing me.
Thank you vetch, keep going!
Already going to work on the banana peels
Dropped in an apple core about a week ago, all I recognize of it now is the seeds,
the rest is a small patch of brown goo.
The fungi take over pretty much immediately, within hours they’ve already penetrated all of it,
invisible to the naked eye.
What size is the pot? You got a whole freaking oasis in there! I saw above you have rolly pollys, any worms?
Big one is 9 Liters and the small one 1 L.
In total it’s under 3 gallons.
I have put some worms in all my pots a long time ago but I’m not sure if they all survived and laid eggs.
But probably!
I’ll be watching this thread for sure. Pretty awesome to see this done on a small scale
I’m throwing my kitchenscraps in there every day now.
Stacking it up.
IDGAF
She guzzles it up like a bitch.
Look at her face.
How happy!
Another hurricane of fresh organic matter passed through:
Do you put citrus in there @Rogue, is that orange peel I see?
Ofcourse!
Fungi like the oils too, it’s all food!
It disappears as fast as anything else.
I mean, oyster mushroom mycelium breaks down used engine oil.
There’s fungi that eats plastic. Mother Earth has a solution for every problem we face.
At the core of it, all we need to do is feed her seeds and spores and watch in awe at how she fixes everything.
And provide (or “harvest water” when growing outside) in the very beginning, until she can hold her own moisture.
Now, I don’t throw anything in there that didn’t come from a seed or spore.
No processing or refinement. Raw and unadulterated. Not tampered with, brewed or fermented.
No special procedures or training needed, no machines, no bottles, no money, no effort necessary.
Yeah, Paul Stamets is one of my all time hero’s. What he’s done with mycelium is mind blowing!
As always, thanks for your insight!
Me reading Mycelium Running:
We shall be adding two small pots to the container, there is room in the corners!
