Storing weed long-mid term,smellproof?

Like Phil does… :+1:

but I also use a vacuum sealer attachment to pull a partial vacuum.
It won’t leak smells that way! :vulcan_salute:

Wasn’t the old school way to surround it with coffee beans?

Again… this is why I got a cannatrol cool cure box… it’s 4 times beneficial… dries perfectly cures perfectly and holds perfectly all with no smell! Expensive… but also cures hash etc… so an investment really… because after months of growing I’d lose my mind if I messed a cure up… or if afterwards my bud molded because of improper storage … temps… humidity… etc… I wish u all luck with those jars!! Cannabis can be stored in a cannatrol indefinitely

The Amazon reviews seem to indicate some sort of pattern of glass chipping at the rim. Have you had any issues like that with any of the jars you own

Many ways to skin that cat. I did invest in a setup to dry and cure, including humidity control (lacking temp control, but ambient works ok). And I gotta say, there’s a few dozen mini hygrometers here (compared and baselined for accuracy), and jars with Boveda packs at 1yr old avg 58%, while jars without the Bovedas (same buds) avg 57% at 1yr old. Something 1 month old might be 59-60% in the jar. Don’t notice a loss of terpenes / smells, but I dry at a constant 60% RH and can let them hang for 10-14 days even longer, then jar when RH stabilizes (aka I know buds are at 60% when RH swings stop). THAT process alone changed my cure and taste and was more crucial than the grow was for me. I love the variety of smells in the different jars. Hard to believe its all the “same plant” lol…

Surprised I have weed thats 1yr old TBH… Yields these days are better I guess  Usually that shits long gone by now! (or maybe I’m getting older, I dunno)

Oh, and spider mites?

There are bags used by backpackers to prevent bears from smelling their food (and coming to investigate ), if you search amazon for “smelly proof” bags that’s one I’ve used.

Yes. I’ve currently have one jar (out of about a dozen) that has chipped at the rim. It was chipped shortly after receiving it. Other older jars have not yet exhibited that problem.

It’s my belief that curing is equally important as the grow itself… sounds like you are doing something similar…but not the full effect of the cannatrol… in the cannatrol you won’t smell weed when it’s done unless you break open the nug… that’s how solidly it locks the smell un the bud… just a killer tool for curing!!

Oh trust me. When you break open a nug, the smell is 10x more potent! (smelling the grinder is heavenly) But theres still a smell to the inside of the jars.

Way too much over thinking for me…

I am in flower, besides that I am in Europe,I doubt to find It on amazon eu :’( @PhilCuisine

I also believe not only more potent smell but more potent smoke all in all… increasing actual trichome maturity along with delicately removing moisture without trichome degradation… I wish we could do a side by side man … would be cool to see

Same stuff different packaging…can use it during flowering too…

Out of curiosity, roughly how much older are the older jars? Pre-2020 or newer? Seems like the chipping reviews have mostly been jars purchased since 2020.

Just trying to gauge whether the quality has dropped significantly over the last few years or if they’re still worthwhile.

I have orders from 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021. The one that chipped was from the 2021 batch. It pretty much chipped right off the bat. I don’t recall if there was a difference in feel when applying the latch. I have not observed problems on any of the other jars to this point beyond some corrosion of the wire (why the stainless wire version is better). The noted corrosion for the non-stainless version isn’t detrimental, it just leaves that nasty metallic smell on your hands when tooling around with them. On the otherhand, I’ve not really looked for signs of differences between the batches.

When latching the jars, there is some stress applied and possible some movement of the captured wire. If there is a QA issue, I’d suspect it’s with how tight the wire is or something.

FWIW, this year I’ve ordered a small quantity of 3L Bormioli Rocco Fido Glass Square Jars to try them out as well. Similar in concept, different form factor.

Thanks for the info. Your experience definitely seems to line up with Amazon reviews over time. I may check out the other one you mentioned.

I’ve been looking for something a little larger than the quart & half gal mason jars I’ve been using because I just found a full jar of something I grew in 2018 that got pushed to the back of the cabinet. Too many jars to push around makes for an organization nightmare.

I’ve received the Fido Jars. Sitting there confused and doing a WTF, I may have learned something tooling around with the seal for those that likely also translates over to the Le Parfait jars … and could very well be the reason the Le Parfaits may sometimes chip near the latch. E.g. user error (lol, how complicated could a jar be. It’s a jar right?). Only took four years.

I’ll post the details when I have a chance to take some photos, probably in a new topic to avoid going to far OT here.

I got one and so far, so good, but the smells leak out while it’s drying and the weed smells after it’s done curing. I had to get a fan/filter set up to contain the smells. Also, i tested the RH in jars, and there was a 10 point difference, so, I’m having to burp the jars/grove bags. I’m using the factory settings.
