Thanks for the shout out @blowdout2269 !

@TeddyNuggets the cyclone separator is the easiest thing I’ve ever come across without needing a complicated build.

There are great 3D printed separator boxes out there if you didn’t want to get all wood-shop. :+1:

I put a fan controller in play with my shop vac and it helps with the suction control.
Additionally melt/drill a hole in the bottle where your thumb or finger can be used to open or close it as a choke.

Yeah I was looking at your design! It does look pretty simple compared to some of the other seed winnower designs out there.

So you basically just stacked 2 5 gallon buckets one upside down on the other and cut 2 holes in the top?

How do you attach the 2 buckets together?

And What did you use to attach the hoses to the buckets? Did you 3D print fittings?

In the video the guy shows you how he used a utility knife to shave a taper into the bucket you cut the upper lip from. :+1:

Simple plumbing fittings and a drill with a hole cutter.

It’s easier if you have one of those tapered hole cutting bits but I just went slow and ran the drill backwards to prevent any rough cutting of the rubber.

Awesome. Thanks!!

Did you design your bucket the same way as the video? With that 90° and 45° elbow on the inside?

Exactly. Hence the share with no added commentary.

Thanks again. Much appreciated. I’m thinking this is my best option for this seed run.

I was debating putting that pre-made $82 seed sorter on my credit card even though I can’t really afford it at the moment, but I noticed the shipping time said it wouldn’t be delivered for almost 2 weeks. Not sure if I want to wait that long to start processing the seeds.

I could build your cyclone sorter tomorrow. All I need is a couple buckets and some of those fittings. Could probably do it for $20-30 I bet. I don’t have a speed controller though. Hopefully that won’t be an issue. I could always just adjust the hole size I cut into the jug to reduce suction.

Could go with a good old fashion cookie sheet/rubbermaid tote lid, at a slight angle, with a card…

I priced everything I need to make that cyclone sorter of @Pigeonman and the total came out to $25 and some change with tax, or about $15 total if I just use a couple of the old 5 gallon buckets I already have laying around. I also found an old 1.5” vacuum hose laying around that I can use for the second hose (the cheapest new hose I could find was like $15! F that. I’m cheap. lol). I want to clean the inside of it though. I think I might try soaking it in some warm water with bleach or something, because I do still want to make hash or edibles from the shake.

It looks like everything else I needed was in stock so I could go tomorrow and get everything.

The only thing I need to figure out is what I am going to use to connect the hose to whatever jug I use.

And I need to decide on the jug too.

@Pigeonman how many gallon is that blue water jug you are using?

Its a 1 gal water bottle from a grocery store.

I’d have used a 2L faygo bottle but didnt have one lol
