Texas is a nice place to grow outside…unfortunately when the moon comes up…everything in the woods in Texas wants to harm you…
I lived in Texas, and they are Nazis about weed. It sucks, especially considering Texas has a climate and the space to grow a lot of really good bud, even really long-flowering landraces.
Federal legalization is coming, but Texas will be one of the LAST states to get on board. They’ll probably fight it for a couple of years, only to slap ridiculous restrictions on it. I can also see them squandering the revenue they get from cannabis to eradicate home grows.
There is a loop hole for growing weed in Texas. If the THC is under certain limits…its just hemp…so if you keep quite…go to court and ask what my hemp test percentage level was…and they don’t have it. You get an unlicense hemp farm charge…just a 500 dollar ticket from license and regulations.
They’ll test it though. I footed the bill for liquids because I wouldn’t tell them what it was. They assumed meth. Came back with a Ketamine charge and a lab bill.
Yes concentrate are difficult. Best to read the laws and hope you don’t get caught.
You are not lying… the damn bugs here are crazy, especially in the warmer months.
It is unfortunate the laws are so anti… when it comes to cannabis… I honestly believe Texas could become a world renowned place for cannabis… like Amsterdam, and Mendocino county….we get really good sun exposure here.
Texas is the only place I’ve seen feral hogs kept under control by nature. Usually they tear up the countryside and move on, but not where I was in Texas. I found hog sign, but little of it and confined to trails. I heard coyotes every night and saw bobcats fairly frequently. Just walking through the brush in Texas can be harmful. There are blackberries, saw briars and tree species with big thorns on them. The trunks of locust trees are often covered in them. Then there are the rattlers and water moccasins, fire ants, scorpions, assassin bugs, caterpillars that can sting you, etc.
On the other hand, Texas could give California a run for their money regarding cannabis cultivation. It’s a big state with a warm, sub-tropical climate and many regions have enough rain.
I’m having a dilemma this year with my seedlings… tap root is break through the shell but once they’re planted in soil they are not breaking through the soil… anyone help with this problem?
Sow a few straight into the soil maybe?
How deep you putting them?
I remember Geoff Lawton saying 3-4 times the length of the seed is a good general rule.
But then again I’ve successfully grown seeds that were just laying on the surface.
And how often do you water?
I’ve tried first placing them in a smaller pot to get the seedlings started so I could transplant them when they got bigger to their 30 gallon… then I tried directly sowing them into the 30 gallon cause the small pots were drying out so fast. (Never happened before) planted total of 8 seeds 3 different strains and all different age… some are 2 years old others are brand new (I assume) but all stored in the freezer with the rest of the seeds storage. I’ve never had any problems with the way I’m doing it in the past… this will be my 4th season… but all 8 seeds have not broken through the dirt. But they have tap roots. Medium is organic living soil… really not sure what’s going on this year
I water every other day just to keep the soil moist… I leave them outside so I try not to let the soil dry out too much.
@oleskool830 could use your expertise on this one if you could help… I’m in north Texas and have tried to get my seedlings to break the soil in my outside garden. Any help would be much appreciated… thank you
Are you placing seeds directly in soil? You might try starting seedlings in solo cups and transplant to your garden after they get some roots. Or, cut the bottom 1/3 of a solo cup off. Take what remains of the solo cup and push it down in the soil about 1/2 way. Fill the cup with seed starter. Only water your seedlings inside the cup. Since the cup has no bottom the roots will grow into your garden soil. I don’t know if that makes sense but just a couple of thoughts. I am interested in how you’re growing outdoors. Are you in a very secluded area or do you have some stealthy tricks you can share. I long to be able to grow outdoors. Let me know if I can help you. I’m always here for a homeboy!

Thank you for responding… yes sir I’m placing them in small starter pots… basically the size of a solo cup… I like to place the cups outside so they can get all the natural weather sun, rain, wind etc… my plants don’t get too big, so Im very lucky to keep them out of site. No tricks just the position of where they are and my yard to those around me isn’t visible to anyone… my 4th year and I can’t for the life of me figure out why they won’t break the soil. It’s been a week, and I don’t want it disturb them in case they’re still alive. But it’s starting to get a bit frustrating why they have yet to break soil.
Do you trip over to Trinidad occasionally? You’re a lot closer than I am.
Trinidad? … as in the country?
Trinidad Colorado. Our nearest dispensary. Lol
Oh lol … no not at all… I like to grow my own.
Oklahoma is a lot closer than Co.
