Sad day for the flower tent. The last chem 91 bx f2 I had in testing decided to start dropping his balls along with one of the two Dark hollows. On the right side is the twisted grape and the trainwreck cross. Middle back is the Dark Hollow and the other three are the Dark Hollow x chem 91 testers.
The veg tent is looking happy with the Tropicana Cookies seedling looking like they’re going to start growing on nicely. Threw a couple LPC crosses courtesy of @Maddawg in the dirt and they’re poking through to join the party. Think I’m done popping beans till I fill up this veg tent and ready to flip.
Disappointment in the tent this morning. At day 15 of flower that twisted grape cross decided it was a good day to drop some nuts. It was tossed. Guess that’s why they’re called testers. Anyway that’s the good, bad and ugly of it.
Going to be popping some more beans this afternoon in anticipation of the other twisted grape testers having similar issues.
Ya unfortunately the one tester I had in flower from the twisted grapes hermed out on me. Pretty disappointed but it happens. I have a few more in seedling stage that will be flowered as well. Hopefully it was isolated. We shall see. Thanks for following along. Hopefully more positive results in the future.
Flower tent is down to 5 with one of the Dark Hollow crosses looking pretty manly. Imagine I’ll be down to 4 tomorrow. What’s left is the trainwreck cross tester(top right), my last Dark Hollow pheno ( bottom right) , pretty excited to see what she does as she is looking completely different than the previous mom I had been holding on to. On the left is the Dark Hollow cross testers (top left being the probable male)
In the veg tent things are moving along a bit slower then I’d like but still coming along nicely.
I moved the Tropicana Cookies up to 3 gal bags today and gave them their first real feed. Hopefully they start showing some better vigor now. On the tray the lpc crosses are showing true leaves. I’ve got the two acdc left which aren’t moving fast at all but that’s OK with my timing. Also there is a couple twisted grape cross testers. Hopefully they prove more stable than the first I grew out. I am growing them I’m an old tent filled with pin holes and light leaks so I’m hoping the issues with the first were a stress response and not so much genetics. New tent will be coming soon I hope.
Outside the Dark Hollow mom I used I still rocking hard. Barely any sign of PM or rot (one bud). In southern Ontario the weather has been rainy and cold for weeks intermittently with numerous frosty mornings and she is still looking resilient. I’m determined to bring her to Halloween at least. Let’s see what she can do.
Pretty simple solution thanks! @Floyd I’m planning on upgrading this tent to a 5x5 in the near future but may need to do something like that in the meantime.
The flower tent is down to the trainwreck cross and the Dark Hollow at about 2 weeks into flower. The two Dark Hollow crosses I have left are still not showing sex but I suspect the taller of the two to be male. I have 5 Tropicana Cookies to throw in here as I go to hopefully get the tent a few more ladies.
So I had to remove the last two remaining Dark Hollow crosses as both started showing intersex traits at week 2.5. The trainwreck cross I’m testing is hasn’t dropped any sacs yet but keeping a close eye. Starting to look a bit nitrogen and mag deficient. Being that these were both barely vegged at all I’m not surprised she is showing some yellow. I started adding Epsom salts at 1.5 tsp/gal and the new growth seems to be better. I’m pretty sure I should be somewhere closer to 1tbs/gal but I’m easing my way into it as I have no experience with this method for adding mag.
These Tropicana Cookies are picking up steam and will be flipped in a week or two. A bit earlier than I wanted but want to get more flowering to accommodate an upcoming testing project.
Flower tent is humming along nicely. Still a bit nitrogen deficient but surprised it’s not more pronounced. What’s your favorite way to add nitrogen in flower if needed? I’m trying some Spent coffee grounds which were soaked over night then diluting that 10:1. Things seem to be a but greener in the trainwreck cross then yesterday.
In the veg tent the Tropicanna Cookies are just starting to fill out. I up potted the two London Pound Cake crosses from @Maddawg and one of my twisted grape crosses that may or may not be culled for more pressing projects. I’ll keep it moving as a back up for now.
Morning all. I was watching Matt riot Interview the Rev from kingdomorganic and heard a coll.tip for selecting males. Now admittedly I dont know anything about him but seems like a knowledgeable old-school breeder so I wanted to pass it on. At around 13 min in the interview he discusses selecting males scoping the cotyledons about a week after they’re above ground and taking note of the density of the leaf hairs. His theory was that selecting the male that had the highest density of leaf hairs at this stage correlates to passing on the trait for higher density tricomes.
Any of you OGs have insight on this? I’m going to have to start taking notes at that early age and try to see if it holds true with the females at least.
The Tropicanna Cookies will be getting flipped in about a week. I was thinking of taking the standout female at dusting a couple lower branches. I was hoping that there may be an OGer here who may have some pollen handy that they think may make an interesting cross. I’m happy to split the seeds with the donor if anyone is interested.
The Tropicana Cookies is getting a bit lanky. They will be tossed into the flower tent tomorrow I’m thinking. The LPC crosses are starting to really move and will be a few weeks behind the Cookies going into the flower tent. A few other odds and ends as well in here.
