The Canadian Contingent (Part 2)

It’s rainy and uncooperative for certain parts of the year down on the coast out west but certain parts of the coast region have experienced sever drought conditions as well. As you leave the vancouver lowermainland all that changes.
Here where I am at , 3000ft elevation closer to 52north, we have snow and ice generally from halloween to end of april. May and early june are usually crappy weather all around and can’t put any gardens out till June 10th or later if you are smart.
I love the weather here but then again , I love winter a lot more than I like rain or hot weather so it suit me just fine. hehe

I had 30 gallons of stout given to me a couple of weeks ago that weren’t going to be bottled.
I froze them and scooped off the ice to concentrate the abv before running it through my still.
I ran the concentrate on the pot still setup to strip the alcohol out .
What a funk smell from the concentration of the hop oils.
I combined the stripped alcohol and funk then ran it through my reflux column. Way better, I ended up with a gallon and a half of 94% but there’s still a hint of da funk.
Not sure what I’m gonna do with it yet, it’s not awful but gotta find sumthin that will work with da funk .

I haven’t thrown any out yet.
Might be for some one and done or tincture , I won’t use it for extraction .
Not bad with coke tho lol

Charcoal may clean it up. I put a screen over a 1/2 “ pipe and fill a couple feet with AC tape funnel to end and pore through.

Anyone else just getting pummelled by the snow? We’ve already had 45 cm over the last 18 hours and just woke up to this for next two days. Where I live, we always get the high end of the number, already seeing drifts that are 90 cm and that will easily double. Bring it on!!! Lol

Nice, I’m about to go move lots of snow so it’s manageable to do again later today . Feeling like -17 with wind chill. Was raining just over 36 hours ago and we were plus 5. Shit is getting whacky

Average global temperature has reached critical levels. You can deny it, but that won’t stop the crop failures! It’s actually kind of sad that while the ecology crumbles around us, we still think we’re some kind of immortal beings, untouched by environmental disasters. Just consider what is going to happen once the glaciers finish melting to nothing.

Ya, people don’t realize once glaciers are gone a lot of fresh water taps are shutting off forever

Another thing is the Inuit know things, man. Ask the elders if anything has changed. They are ground zero for this shit that’s going down.

I’ve made the Irish cream but wouldn’t try with this “bier schnapps” lol
Can’t do the amaretto till I have an EpiPen and allergy tests done .
I did run a couple of quarts through the airstill .
Pulled out 6oz from the beginning , much better now but still there in the background so charcoal is next .

As someone with family on Baffin Island , you and I can finally agree on something :stuck_out_tongue:

Just what I have observed in my 43 years on this planet tells me we have completely fucked everything. What I knew in the 90s , ecological wise , does not even exist here in 2024.

The biggest lie people ever believe was that we are not part of this planet. I firmly believe people are suppose to be the stewards of this planet. We are anything but at this point.
