The Central American landrace and heirloom thread (Part 1)

What? Is that right?

It would seem so. They have stopped listing seeds, at least for now, and so anything that is available through resellers is all that is left. Thatā€™s why I was so keen on nabbing these last packs of Red Snake and doing a big reproduction. I also grabbed a pack of their Caribe. I already have Purple Mexican, Mangobiche, Jarilla, Punto Rojo, Peyote Purple, Hashfruit, Michoacan Cream and many others in my collection. Definitely one of my favorite breeders, but apparently Charlie is getting older and the seeds are slow selling, so too much bother and risk these days. A shame if he is done as I think of him as one of the great breeders and preservationists of our time for sure.

I saw his destroyer on his website about half a year ago but went back to check and it was gone. No more seeds on that site since. I should have nabbed em.

Iā€™ve been reading but still havent gottena a full grasp of feeding schedules for Mexican landraces? Some things suggest light feeding but can you over feed?

I usually go with my ā€œthe usualā€ strength charts for my sterile salt nutes and use promix bx with a little worm castings in the seedling stage.

My plan is for an open pollenation run of Jalisco with each in an orange bottom airpot running 12/12 from seed running in the summer nights.

I usually feed daily hence the question of feed rates for something new to me but exciting all the same.

Amazing thread, lots of gems here. Upstate, do you happen to know where I can get some Highland Guerrero? Been searching around for that strain for the past few months, canā€™t find it anywhere.

I always wanted to try the Jalisco but I didnā€™t want to pay for the seeds. I donā€™t think they would have shipped them here anyway.

That originates from member Sinaloa on IC right? The stuff he sent them at Cannabiogen. That strain also represents a newer generation Mexican hybrids that I am interested in.

Check for Cryptic Labs Highland Guerrero at great lakes genetics.
@Pigeonman get yourself some good potting soil, some perlite and castings. This will be enough to get you to harvest. Generally landraces do best in organic soil. For Oaxaca Iā€™ve used 50% foxfire ocean forest and 50% black gold potting soil . To this mix add a 50 /50 blend of castings/ perlite. About 25% the amount of your first mix. This will be your main mix. For starting use just the black gold. Once the plants are ready for transplant use the other mix. Iā€™ve used many slightly different mixes and most work OK. I water using Ā± 20 drops calmag per watering to feed the microlife nitrogen. Sativas hate too much N.
Any other mix ive suggested in this thread will work too.
