Love the lateral Scarlet Grapes.
This made me laugh entirely too much. How are the Lil’ Mugz doing in the rafters? Been a couple days are they deceased or bouncing back?
Looking awesome overall!

More than half of my purpose here is to make people at least smile sometimes, so that is good to hear
Clone babies are still rootless, but not obviously deceased (yet). Im keeping the dome misted daily, and my thoughts positive
Quick update
DAY 46
Fridge view this AM
Joe (Scarlet Grapes auto)
Underoos
Im thinking of this run as a test to see what happens if i dont stress out too much over any of them. This may make me the monster in my fridge…
Which takes us to our other fridge monster…
Fran (Frankenstein)
Mugs (Ketosis x Ice cream cake 98) moved into their micro-octos today.
The baby clones are a novelty at this point, still arent dead dead yet but im less hopeful and more curious than anything now. I think i was under watering them.
Maybe next time. Until then, we follow through
Mug1 guessing female, she hangs with Fran in the fridge til i get her new apartment (Righty box) light proofed.
Mug2 guessing male, (based on relative growth so far)
Way more root action than mug1
Safe and sound in the Lefty box.
Best o luck, mugs
Looking good! Lil mugs still scraping by up there
seen your post in another thread, thought i’d check this out. wow this is awesome. really cool to see. way to work with small spaces!
how many wattage in lights are you running in there?
seeing the plant in the freezer part growing out of the side of the grow bag is rather curious too. kudos for creativity and curiosity. i’ll be watching to see how it progresses. cheers!
I dont run them at full power, and im really bad at math,
So probably less than 17w x 8 (but honestly i have no idea)
Big week, and weekend. Total rearrangement of room contents and functionality - office/growspace is now gym, gym is now bedroom, bedroom is now office/growspace. Emphasis on Space . Doesn’t increase my grow capacity, but at least i have some more elbow room 🫱
So much non-plant attention spent this week.
Results are not surprising…
DAY 54
Mug baby heads didnt make it.
More than 2 weeks (3?) And no roots at All.
Fridge
Fran (Frankenstein)
Mug1 (Ketosis x Ice cream cake 98)
Fran had a rez ph spike that i wasnt paying attention to (6.5+), which im hoping was the issue that led to these necrotic, nosferatu monster fingers. I added some ph down yesterday, back to 6.1ish, hoping that does the trick. Roots look great, main “top” is happy and healthful. Not worried too much, not yet.
Mug1
Little pale, little unhappy, little patience needed while the roots get their thing on. Picked up a spray bottle of Foop to hit the leaves with while things are En Root. So far, not Too terrible.
~The Freeze Ward~
Joe (Scarlet Grapes auto)
Ph down was needed here too. Not sure why i didnt think to deal with that before now. Not dwelling, though. Since we’re probably into week 3ish of flower? I switched to 500ppm of 10-30-20 today, hoping im not screwing her up too bad. Next scarlet grapes run i promise i’ll do it more justice.
Oh yeah- also! Total revamp on the Not-Scrog- not only a lower screen, but now Not a screen (not really), but a grid from which to Pull down branches instead of Pushing them down. This gets me back to my own roots, see a branch, pull a branch, style of plant training.
While i was rearranging literally everything in my house, i came across the original freezer shelf, and had a moment of inspiration.
<< Some wire snip and hacksaw time later >>
the Side Guide was hatched
I think Joe is happier, being able to spread out better. We’ll see though
I know the Next side plant i have in there is going to Love it
Below
Head on (apply directly to the forehead)
Mug2
Aka “We dont talk about Mug2”
Not until they get their root shit together
Fooped this one a bit while it gets goin. Level was low, reupped today just in case it couldnt “see” its way rez-ward.
Bonus shot: doorless Not-Fridge, keeping calm while complete house reorg carries on.
Another friend of the fridge here… that’s the coolest fridge I’ve seen so far!
DAY 60
Roots Rock Reggae
I figured out root pic taking.
It’s called not caring if bad things happen to $$ phone. Very freeing
Fran (Frankenstein)
Growing hard against her restraints (and complaints). She seems to be doing better since i’ve been keeping ph down to 6.1ish, but still a little mottly in the newer leaves. And nosferatu claws continue in the big older fans. I think they make her look tough AF so ill keep em as long as they don’t get gross.
Roots are simply Bangin down there
Mugs (Ketosis x Ice cream cake 98)
Still dont know the sexes on these two.
Mug1
Starting to turn out new growth after the root stall stage. Had some little leaf die off, but they were gentle fades to pale. And never looked too unhappy during the week.
The roots are doing an all at once kind of push
Mug2
Absolutely hangdog all week, but perked up noticeably after a couple rounds of Foop foliar spray. I thought for sure it was gonna crap out, but hung in like a champ. Thank you @Jetdro for the recommendation
Joe (Scarlet Grapes auto)
Switched to jacks 10-30-20, 500ppm for this stage, phd to 6.2ish.
Flowers looks to be developing ok. And best of all she doesnt look Worse than last week. Im calling that a win
Her roots, also, rockin’ and reggae-in’
Keep skankin’ it easy OG
Root porn!
Brb, just need to change my job title on all my business cards
DAY 68 (all pics are from 2 days ago)
It’s a good thing I’m not tryin to win any beauty contests.
Inner beauty, maybe… yes. Going with that
Fran (Frankenstein)
Taking turns being happy and being super cranky. We’re a lot alike this winter
I’ve super slacked on checking ph this run due to what is probably some seasonal depression and ouroboros plant sad, me sad, loop infinitum.
Maybe i’ll pull out of this slump. Maybe I’m just shit at growing plants (play it again sam, and again, and again )
Sorry. See below for this week’s bonus: a quietly inspiring mantra.
Mugs (Ketosis x Ice cream cake 98)
Mug1
Finding their place in the sun. Nice tight lil bush bonsai shape. Classic NotJosh tiny box quadline format i may let this one grow a bit while i sex the other…
Mug2 day 1
Had a nice turnaround this week.
Just in time for flip day
We’ll see what yer packin.
Joe (Scarlet Grapes auto)
Had to clip a bunch of frying leaf parts out between sticky buds that were clumping a little too close together for my comfort. Sticky sweet resin all up in this freezer. Excited to get an idea of what she can do when i can do a better job on her.
As promised, this week’s mantra
If we want kind bud, we must first be kind to ourselves
Be good, my people
D75
(Pics are from yesterday)
We descend further into the unpleasant condition.
I’m thinking i let the igloo cooler sit too long with the last batch of nutes i mixed (12/15). There was some junk at the bottom, spongy wispy film that gathered in the middle when id stir. When i first noticed it a couple weeks ago i thought it was just accumulated sediment, but now i think some kind of nasty gunk that could be nuking my plants
Rinsed the roots in all 3 photo micro buckets, which looked kinda icky but the roots are still looking primo.
Minty fresh
Fran (Frankenstein)
Yes she still needed several many fans removed due to whatever is causing the deadness. But, she is the least worse looking of all 3 photoperiods after the last week.
Before trim
The saddest development for me this week. Yikes
Before trim
Mug2 F7 FW1
Growing as a plant, but really tanking in the leaf department
Joe (Scarlet Grapes auto)
Hanging in there. Thinking she is doing ok-er than the others, and not getting worse after her leaf debacle stopped debacle-ing because i wasnt feeding her from the same nute cooler. Just a theory.
Might just be the igloo is bad plastic and kills plants when you add fertilizer and let it sit? Time will suss that out.
One thing I found was my main res drifted up in Ph quite a bit after just a week or two.
Using jacks 20-20-20. I believe I also added GFF to the mix.
The PH was 5.6 when mixed and drifted up to 6.5 10 days later.
I’ve since lowered the amount I mix each time to avoid this.
Using RO water.
Thanks for the tip @JOHN1234 glad to hear im not alone!
Hard stop is dialed back to 3 week max, and ill check jug and bucket ph periodically. Ill also try not to mix more than i (think i) will need
Last run with jacks i had no problems with ph (just a bunch of other stuff lol), maybe because i was mix mix mixin 1 gallons all the ding dang time…
Hoping ph is all it is. realllly hoping the igloo isnt like leaching toxicty. I love the form factor so much. Not tryna poison anybody over it though 🫣
maybe ill switch back to megacrop 1 part next go round for fun, see if i like that better in the micros.
I’ve only been growing hydro for…a few weeks
But fuck keeping tabs on ph is important. I had my Aerogarden basil stalled for almost 2 weeks. Check pH and 6.8 or something. Few drops of pH down to 6 and back to life the next day.
My jug of nutes drifts up almost 0.2/day. It’s different, Megacrop 2-part but getting in the habit of just checking every day. Starting to really like the idea of the ph-corrected nute lines. It’s easy to settle into a routine and let stuff slip.
Or. Maybe I’ll just buy a monitor. Ridiculous. Maybe build one. It’d be nice to have phone alerts when stuff is wonky. Makes me feel like a lazy bastard.
It’s always pH in hydro. I check pH 3x a week minimum. It causes the strangest symptoms
I cant grow in hydro because things can go so wrong so fast. Dirt is about my speed. 🥸
There (back to soil), but for the bullheaded determination to make this work, go i 🥸
Up til now ive had just (for me) galloping, runaway success and ease with these micros. Before them i was in soil and obsessing over pot weight every day to know when to feed. And trying to ph runoff while also bottom feeding, and still a lot of guessing and hoping. They all turned out ok, but it was a lot of work.
Micros has been just oh hey it’s low, top her off and walk away. If i can just get some good feed mix cadence down so nothing gets too old waiting for a plant 🪴 to eat it, and stay on top of jug/bucket ph, im hoping i can get back to that rhythm. Theres always soil though in case i do give up
I wonder if some pH paper would be quicker and easier for daily checks.
It’d be nice to have a go/no-go pH strip rather than the color transitions that always leave you guessing. I’m going to take a look if I can find something
I need to just stop being lazy. I have a nice pH pen. I even have one of these. I’m literally spending lots of time finding a walk-around to spending 3 minutes filling a beaker with water and potentially checking my cal. Idiotically, I proceed…
This tape produces a guess based on shade.
These look a little better.
