I always see the vape in your Monday shots , lol
Interesting. I did the hydroton, and my netpot hangs about 1/4" off the bottom of the reservoir. I always make sure the water is in contact with the hydroton (was thinking I was overfilling when I look at you, @GramTorino etc). But in 7 of 8 octopups my moisture is fine.
Maybe a modification on the next… Use their provided wick, but ONLY from reservoir to the netpot (I tried it from netpot to soil mix, and that keeps soil rather wet). Like don’t let the wick touch soil, only far enough thru the netpot to wick water to the hydroton?
I let my reservoirs use about 1/2 a gallon before refilling, and they are generally full when finished…
at the half gallon point my coco packed netcup are maybe 1cm underwater. I’m thinking the expanded clay and lighter pot was too light and combined with the tightnes of the opening lifted it off the water. the mark I was using for guidance was not guiding enough.
A simple fix would be to take a rasping file to the lid and opening the opening up a bit so the netcup drops in freely. Ideally, I’d find a 3" netcup that is taller. I’m filing this under lesson learned.
@BlackWaterBudd yea man. how else am I gonna know it is a monday?
It’s worth it to note, the lids are made of a semi brittle plastic… tried cutting one and it cracked like a sterilite tote would vs a roughneck tote. I’d be gentle removing any material. Mine didn’t crack too badly but forced me to find the right size netpots…
good info, thank you. I’ll be careful. what kind of netpots are you using?
Fyi. For dimensions.
These fit - very tight. And I used screws to attach.

Thanks man, appreciate the link. I’ll get some for a mother project I’m thinking about.
*edit. out of stock. of course. just my luck. but it gave me dimensions.
second edit.
I performed surgery on the net cup on hand. nicked the rim and took out half of one of the ribs. fits the lid easy now.
I was going to post you screw your net pots in.
I’d send the amazon link, but its “no more”… I did find that the ones @GramTorino listed out of stock at the time and ended up with “3” netpots" that seemed to fit the dimensions… The 4" netpot is really a 4" collar, but closer to a 3" netpot in true diameter…
Why? I think thats an unnecessary step really. X in the bottom of the felt, and netpot will wedge that fabric between netpot and top of mini octopup. If I need to access the reservoir, I lift via the reservoir top, not the felt bag, and its been stable and secure since day 1.
Good discussion!
FWIW, I got the 3" netpots which fit perfectly in the octopup hole. I packed the netpot tight with the same soil as the fabric pots and they wicked up moisture nicely into the bottom 3-4" of the fabric pot when the rez was about half full. I top watered half a quart in the center and it seemed to connect down into the moisture wicked up from below. That’s how it is supposed to work, right?
I just cut a simple X in the bottom of the fabric pot to fit the netpot. I did nip the four corners of the cut out to prevent excess wicking. I didn’t screw the netpots to the fabric because I want to separate the two for cleaning in between runs.
Exactly right. My 3" netpot that I picked up at the local hydro store, fit was very tight on the lid, so the bottom of the netcup didn’t hit the water enough. bing bang boom, stunted.
learning experience.
Tent today.
Nightowls gets cut tomorrow, hopefully. The other two are on Day 61
Strated FINISH nutritients.
Upgraded the nib on the Mighty. Much nicer experience.
Edit. Spotless Mind day 87.
I got pictures! And I’m gonna post them, baby!
Plants in the tent are day 65 ish. Looking better now with the extra water.
WCxGG4 is thickening up.
Wedding cake f2. This thing… …is frosty everywhere, smells exactly like it’s mommy… Weird looking thing.
It’s a Monday my friends.
Boy are the bulking up.
Thank you very much lady. I’m quibbling over what to start next. I’m gonna try to only grow 2 plants at time for 2022.
Im thinking…
stark contrast between both plants, really neat to see such variety in these plants. Is the white wedding cake looser nugs compared to the denser looking WC x gg4?
I do not know why it went willowy on me. could be genetics, could be my dumbass messing up and letting the coco go dry and the stress was enough to make it grow like this, I dunno. my first instinct was to bin it. But higher authority intervened… the fluffy one is only alive because the better half like its green color.
I’m gonna finish it, dry it and make the whole into tincture. it is very frosty and smells like the mother plant. for 2 pins I’d run it again but I already have others planned and I really do not need anymore WC. I got like 5 jars left…
as the man said: “I’m back, I got lips again and I’m gonna use them baby!”
tent day 74 ish?
WC f2…my little shrubbery. maybe I should start a few others, hunt the pheno down then grow them in 2 level so it creates a nice effect just like Roger the Shrubber suggested. I mean, who would want to do the other thing with the herring? I dont.
colors are getting redder, it has a lovely bouquet.
WCxGG4 drinking steady. Strong smells. Colas are thickening.
Its a monday, my friends.
I am so glad you spared the “Bush” WC from an early demise! I’m always rooting for the underdawg and I’ve gotten really fond of that shrub as your grow progressed.
Any chance you could do some bud closeups of her the next time your camera is out?
