Thoughts on this Walmart light - 2000W?

Cheap light. Will it sustain a seed run or is it a waste of time?

How many watts does it actually use?

It will work, but how well is the question, and would it be cheaper to make a better one.

It’s funny that the White one claims 2000 watts, and the Black one is 3000 watts…but neither one tells the truth,LOL

Riiighht… You’re going to need a 30 Ampere circuit (and a fire extinguisher) but, oddly, it’ll probably work fine on less than a 15 Ampere circuit. Also, this appears mostly RED spectrum which will likely encourage lots of stretch.

Going for budget fixutures, you’d be better off with MARs (more recent offerings), DiY, or some of Baudelaire’s solstrips.

I have these but you can get 17 strips and the hlg 240w driver to run them for 218$ CA. Equivalent to a 600w HPS. But with a better footprint and light distribution.

What’s your budget? There’s a lot of good options that won’t break the bank.

Hlg 132 v1 are on sale for 109 with an lrs 350-36 driver. It’s around $150 for 300 watts.

I dont have a budget really. I just seen this light super cheap. I knew it was crap but I’d like to seed a female to give some seeds away here in the future. I have a 3 by 3 that I want to use for a single female. I will just buy rapid LEDs.

Hard to know but most fixture manufacturers that only provide deceptive numbers would rank high on the junk list. Perhaps, even dangerous in one manner or another since the actual cost to manufacture one of these has to be in the $30 range. Cutting corners is one way to keep costs in line.

I guess if you wanted to flower 4 tiny clones it would work. But if I only had $70 to spend I’d find a used small HPS on Kijiji.

I have in the past used a similar light and cropped ~.5g per watt. The light was 28w if I remember correctly.
