Well today I will water her with 6.5 ph hopefully she begins to look a little bit healthier. She’s still getting frosty. I’m going to hold off feeding her again till next watering. Then I might feed her a little bit every other water till I flush. Just waiting to see what she tells me.
This little lady has been under 12/12 since sprout. I was just practicing putting a sprout straight in DWC. I jumped her to pre flower nutes. She seems to be doing well.
She looks alright. I was watering with the ph to high on mistake. So today she got a solid 6.5. In a few days she will get fed. When the leaves started curling that was concerning. Everything has calmed down.
My big DWC plant is doing great. I could do be doing better having whiter roots but another then that I’ve been successful. I’m beginning to explore that problem. Practice makes perfect.
I have been thinking about doing the passive system similar to the hempy pot with vermiculite and perlite for a sea of green of autos. I can’t see myself running 6 small bubblers.
DWC:
I’m interested in the origin of the slime. From what I’ve seen it can come from a couple different things. Since you’re at 70F and the plant is growing - it’s not pythium/anaerobic conditions. I was wondering if there could be something you added that has a color, or some kind of pathogen growth from light exposure. The roots seem otherwise healthy besides the slime? Do the roots look damaged from it, or are normal underneath?
Thats a very good question! The water is not as nasty as it looks. The inside of that bucket is a yellow blue bonnet margarine tub. The colors that could be building up is the Micro from the Flora line of General Hydroponics. Second is Myco+. Its supposed to be the root beneficial. Now I don’t know why I bought this cause there is no research that is helps. The only thing thats left is my pellets. Everything else is pink or green. I’m planning on getting Hydroguard the first money I get. This is about the color of nute mix:
The roots don’t look terrible atm. And she seems to be happy.
I was doing some research and there seems to be a divide when it comes to keeping a healthy root zone. One half says to do periodically change out your reservoir every week to 10 days. The other half says to just top off your reservoir. I can understand both. The first want to remove negative bacteria but doing so your removing the beneficial bacteria that improves healthy root progress. The second just top off with water to not disturb the roots happy home. I do my change outs every 2 weeks to keep to meet both sides in the middle. Now in the summer I’ll probably do it every 10 days. You know I was thinking about shooting you a message about this. It slipped my mind. I love your work man. Im open to suggestions.
It just occurred to me! What about the air stone? I just run mine in clean water for a couple days. I didn’t use any solution. If you have any good literature on hydro or even just DWC I down to learn anything. I’m not going to shy away because DWC difficult. Progress is slow going but I’m confident I’ll get there.
I know and its bothering me.
I really think is the Myco+ thats staining them. Thats why I’m switching to Hydroguard. I dont know why I bought the myco because normally I do ALLOT of research before buying any product. This time none. Alot of the brown color is happening towards the top of the roots. Could it be possible that I didn’t clean my clay pellets well enough?
If there is something with color, it’ll stain the roots. I have this bottle of “thrive alive” which is ground up seaweed. Leaves the roots dark brown but they are still doing good. The nutrient I’m using has an extremely light orange and green color but when diluted in water you can’t even see it. Unhealthy roots will crumble, as in if you grab it with your finger the outer skin of the root will tear off and leave a fibrous inner core.
I use no beneficial organisms, and I never change the water…unless it undergoes 36 hours of power outage
You, @itza419 and @Instg8ter are the guys I try to watch on the DWC side. There mini DWC are interesting.
The roots do feel strong. I will definitely try to clean my clay pebbles better as well as the air stones.
It won’t be this grow that I try to switch things around. But I will post what made the improvements on here later.
Well we have a little bit of improvement going on. Both of the girls are smelling very sweet. Today I removed a little bit of foliage to get light to some bud sights better. Along with some lower leaves that were not receiving much light.
I’ve noticed that alot of the stuff getting stuck in her roots is the myco+ that haven’t fully dissolved kicked up by the air stone. If the plant looks happy, I’m happy.
Well about two more weeks to go. Waiting for those calyxs to swell up. Anyone ever feel like they can’t wait to get some plants out of the way? I’m very appreciative that I’m able to do this at all. Some places I lived it was impossible to grow. The thing is I got @Hoppy 's HOPSCOTCH can’t wait to get that going. I’m also expecting some of @CoastalMarySeeds Gelato Autos that will be here within in the week. So many seeds not enough space. I know it wouldn’t be wise to run both of those together. I’ll probably run a Auto in my old space bucket. As much as I hate the heat in the summer, but boy I can’t wait for the next outdoor season! I’ve got 2 more strains on the way and planning on getting my hands on Fast Buds Zkittlez auto that I will be attempting self pollination. Now I have to get my supplies stocked up for the summer.
