@Cactus Next year we can finally have plants. Then I won’t feel like a greenhouse will stick out… That should buy me a month.
I’m going to look into it
I think my biggest challenge will be to get the humidity dialed into my setup. So dry or lack of humidity, I am surprised that the tropicals really dig the environment but getting things to root is a real challenge. I have the temps in the nursery down enough that I can shut the doors and let the humidity rise so that is a win. I imagine in another week I will be able to drive the humidity up in the rooms and start to finish up some things I need to get started and done .
I’d ask @LandraceWarden about his Balochi and Kandahar varieties. Dasht desert strains are impressive ( to understate) in dry environments like yours. Latitude/ elevation are pretty close to Arizona
I didn’t cure too much of last year’s Tirah. Most was smoked immediately due to necessity.
After a 6 month cure, I’ve now sampled Miss Pistachio.
The smell/ taste has morphed into complete pine now. Smoke is smooth and tasty til the last toke. I honestly don’t know why people say hindu kush varieties are harsh to smoke as bud. That couldn’t be further from the truth… in this case at least.
The high is a strong and stoney head high that fades into a nice relaxing state. This is functional daytime weed as well. Just had some for breakfast as a matter of fact . It’s not the type of smoke that has you jumping off the couch to get stuff done, But it isn’t the type that glues you to the couch either. I smoked it three hours ago now and I still feel the effects. I’m hoping I have a couple buds of Miss Late to dinner and Miss Big leaves left…if I do another smoke report will come along shortly.
Since opening up the Miss Pistachio jar, it has remained on the counter…always a good sign of quality in this house. She’ll be smoked everyday til it’s all gone
Interesting how those also tend to be among the most potent, and often unique in both appearance and effects. A buddy of mine grew a little runt, about a foot tall and a hermie. It barely yielded enough for a single joint, but damn…
That’s why “bag appeal” is simply never a factor in my mind. Actually, bag appeal means that there may be a discount on stuff that doesn’t have it. I’ve had weed that was leafy, harvested early, dried improperly (microwave) and still got me utterly baked.
I have a few TVPK going at the moment. They’re very similar to many Afghani HK types that I’ve grown before.
Nothing better than a beautiful green plant really starting take off!
A few harvest pictures…the purple plant pictured comes down today. Just Tiny Tina left now. (Pics 1 and 2) The others are curing😁
@Rocket very nice. Keep us updated.
I’m lucky to have acquired these beans from Barefrog . I popped 11 of them and they look amazing. I’m In southern Ontario Canada I’m confident they will love it here. Hoping to get f1’s .
@Reznfingeez33 You’ll get to make seeds for sure, should you try, but some later phenos could struggle. Some go til Halloween and all are October finishers. I’d recommend a pollination at the earliest chance you get. Maybe 2 weeks into flower. My late pollination seed didn’t finish maturing. Late equals week 4 of flower. Maybe your climate Is easier. Here by mid October everything green during summer is crispy brown and dead. Good luck! I hope you keep us updated. This one is a gem of a find.
I should update this thread now that flowers have cured 6 months. The Ilaqai Nasal smoke is much more potent now than at harvest time. Flavors are delicious. All sorts of different terpenes make a flavor profile difficult to pinpoint. There are many. The high of my most recent smoke started with a really really strong head high that lasted a good hour, and that morphed into a strong relaxed stone, but not a sleepy one. I wish I knew which plant it was for sure, but I think it’s the one with pink stigmas. Another is Peshawar dominated. Smells like citrus catpee. Good, strong tasty stuff, though it sounds nasty when describing it.
Absolutely beautiful plants amazing structure
Looks like a Peshawar pheno with those heavily serrated leaves. Really pretty
I took somr cuts of my favourites. They all seem quite similar in their growth characteristics. Not a whole lot of smell so far with them. If anything I’d say a slight floral citrus type of thing. I’ll keep you updated on how they make out .
Tirah x Peshwar courtesy of Upstate thank you. Not sure on the sex of the plant yet. But Extremely vigorous plant for sure.
Nice plant skunkhunt . Any smells off them yet?
