We are DEFINITELY our own worst critics sadly, but seriously, great work
Oh wow, those are really nice, the one looks like a boneā¦. I love the bone carvings, Iāve never seen one for sale though, ironically Iāve found more ivory art for sale than bone carvings. The mask is very cool too
Are the carvings corresponding with what you use the guns to hunt/kill? @MoBilly
caribou antler and soap stone for the mask
Thatās so cool, talk about using every piece, this is why I always like native art, you know itās ethical and has had great energy blessed upon it.
i have an uncarved tusk of a walrus i got from a hunter inuit, guys i worked with were talking about norwhal tusks but these were over my budget
Thatās all the stuff i love, but I havenāt been anywhere really to find it (not much of a world traveler) the narwhal tusks would be absolutely epic! I was at a fishing camp once and they had two huge ones over the fireplace, he let me hold them and itās amazing the weight, to think they swim around with those giant horns is nuts, itās cool seeing what they do with them though, very cool
most of my carving come from kingait aka cape dorset, its a small comunity known for its talented carvers
and the antler i bought from a coworker i worked with from arctic bay his wife even did a marvelous repair on my snow suit
Iāve definitely heard of it, I wish I lived somewhere with access to stuff like that, my house would have lots. Iām gonna take some pics of the soap stone stuff at my dads next time Iām there, he has some that are over 150 years old, one is an Inuit hunter hunting walrus and it uses bone and ivory from the walrus , even the spear and knife he holds are made of (canāt think of it but the black shiny stone they used way back for cutting implements) itās my favourite, itās about 90 years old and was carved by a very famous sculptor in Inuit culture. Youād really like it
Pretty much. If you notice the double barrel has a turkey on the full choke side and a squirrel on the modified side. The deer is on the stock for my .270 and the rabbit running from the eagle is on a 20 gauge modified choke that I use just for rabbits.
Iāve done quite a few gun stocks for family and friends but these are the only ones on my own weapons.
i have two walrus carvings but sadly the tusks were carved out of bones and the carving was accessible to my dog i let you guess what happenned loll
Very very nice!
Very cool! I love it. If you ever wanna carve something for an OG buddy Iād gladly facilitate your time , call me sentimental but I love stuff like that, especially with meaning or from a good friend. I know it takes time , skill and drive so I totally get it if not, but if you find yourself bored, with nothing to do one dayā¦.
Oh man, that must have been a sad moment, and ya canāt even get really mad either, itās like āWTF did you expect putting that thing theirā
I will absolutely keep that in mind my friend.
Much much respect brother
if hes in canada it could be cool to get someone to grind at my tusk
having an og themed carving on it would be dope
Sadly heās in the US , and I bet shipping that stuff gets iffy. I know anything ivory is a big no no, my dad bought me a cool piece years back along with a gator head, he shipped it back as he had no room in his carry on, both were confiscated
I am as close to the center of the US as a person can get. lol
Iāve never carved bone or tusk. Iād almost be afraid to ship it though. Customs might intercept it @amumayuk .
