And what their elevation is. That’s about the only other thing I can think of that could possibly cause it.
I and most I know/seen with the cut that only throws 3s and 5s, are at or around ~600ft above sea level.
I would counter that perhaps it is more about improving the indica or the bud structure in some of those crosses.
I have a cross of this I intend to drop around 4/20 Saltwater Kush coming up!
Ah, yeah if you’re trying to improve something else by using her, I could definitely see that. Definitely a worthy goal there. But I wanna improve on her and so far that’s coming up short
Oddly enough I had an SSDD f3 that looked a lot like TK. Very potent. But very harsh.
Right now it’s usually
79°-82°F lights on (leaf temp is lower because LED)
68°-70°F lights off
According to whatismyelevation.com my address is 236ft asl
One difference I can see from the picture is that I train and top them more. IDK if that matters for this expression
TBH I have never paid much attention to # of blades until yesterday lol, but looking @ pics of TK from before/early training and they don’t have the 7s
Start of this run
I am also blasting them w/ light the tops are ~15" from the quantum boards getting ~1000-1200 ppfd according to Photobio meter.
I have a tk cut that ive held for years now. Well, I lose it from time to time but my buddy keeps it held down. So i always get it back. Looks just like yours. Same structure, same wavy branches, same leaf shape, etc. I also have a buddh that procured farmerjoes tk cut and its the same cut as mine. Ive seen 6 and 7 blade leafs on both examples. Not too often though. Usually only 3 and 5s. My moms will throw six leafs when they are getting old and tired. But, I have seen 7 blades on the cut i run and the cut that came from farmerjoe(which is identical to my cut). Not very often but i have. I think its stress related.
Just not sure what stress it could be exactly I’ve grown her out 4ft tall in basically a solo cup. I had kept a mom for a year or so under ~25w. Temps from upper 80s/low 90s to mid 60s/low 70s. PPFD/PAR from 100 up to 1500 or so. With and without Co2. Jacks. Maxibloom/Lucas. Canna Coco. Seen her ran outdoors from Texas to Illinois. I have two times ever, in person, seen a single leaf on a whole plant of her that threw a mutated/weird looking tiny 6th blade, but never 7. Some type of weird nutrient deficiency/excess or something maybe?
For anyone that gets her to throw 7s, what media are you growing her in? Soil?
Im thinking build up in the soil. The plant is finicky as hell as it is. I wish i could figure out how to keep her happy like all my other keepers.
they were freebies i got from buying Sin City’s Blue Power over at elfuegoseeds (legit guy - all great with my order).
The label of the freebies say “Shindig Genetics” and from what i was able to find out, its the label elfuego owner uses for his freebies (along with Laid Out Genetics) most of his stuff seems to be made with genetics passed on to him by his friend (SinCity) so, at least the genetics seem to be legit backed up - dunno about the quality of the cross or selection tho.
As above so below. Could also be linked to container size and root development. As @BuckBreeder touches on, those famously finicky roots perhaps? Many blessings and much love
I am using Roots Organics Original which is peat+coco based soil and add some Green Gro pride lands powder.
Only have two runs so far but both have gone a little hot both times trying to dial in nutrients.
Found out you can overdue calcium for OG Kush because Organics Alive chart was 2-3X more than max should have been
Edit: April 14, 2024 Organics Alive fixed their calcium chart so it now advises 1ml / gallon which is what I use.
Chart previously said to use 2-3ml throughout flower. I had potassium lockout using 2ml calcium but resolved quickly after reducing to 1ml / gallon and only using calcium once per week.
If it is environmental I would think it is either nutrient stress/lockout or stress from training.
Based on my small sample size of three plants from last two runs and the difference I can see with the training for the 3-5 only examples.
Annecodatally to me it seems like I get more 3 blade leaves when it’s root bound but I will be keeping a closer eye on what impacts it going forward
I usually run her rootbound but even when i haven’t it’s still been 3s and 5s so I don’t think it’s that. I also routinely run high stress training on her. Literally crushing stems. Ive ran her bone dry and soaking wet. So i don’t think it’s really any physical stress related.
I would think it either has to be something with the nutrients, or the 7 blade plant is a different cut.
I’ve never seen a bad pheno of bt🙅♂️
@HolyAngel what is the typical stretch in the triangle kush?
It depends on how happy she is and what’s going on with the nutrients. Have her right and she can stretch 3-4x easily. My first run of her, I flipped a 12 inch tall clone and didn’t touch her the whole way and she ended up just over ~4ft/48 inches. Pot size doesn’t really seem to have anything to do with it as I usually run her in half gallon fabric pots. I usually end up squeezing all the 1inch+ long internode spaces every couple days, until i can feel the stem buckle, through all of stretch in order to keep her around 2x and manageable. Don’t lose out on yield, just get a shorter plant to deal with.
Ok nice, ive just started to get her happy and she is now exploding growth. Going to take some cuts and try and clone her and then flip her over. Plan was to flower her at 12-18 inches so should be a decent end size. Thanks alot dude
TK is back left and shes gonna be a beast in flower but I’m a little scared of the stretch thats coming.
Happy growin
HG
I got TK from FJ and have not done anything more than veg and tissue culture her. I have not seen more than 3 blades on anything to date
She’s gonna out grow your tent for sure! I’d flip asap and stay up on crushing the internode spaces, or hack her back a bit. Hacking her back too much can easily kill her though, that’s one thing she does not like.
