I had previously grown an AG NL#2 and really enjoyed it, so wanted to replenish the supply. So I’ve got 2 of those going (top left, bottom right). I had some AG Trainwreck x Original Haze, so that’s in the middle. Then I had a couple White Widow (unknown), so they are bottom left/top right.
Veg got out of control, they got super lanky, high humidity, grew into my lights, it was sad. So what to do with 30” tall plants? Try to cram them under a 20” screen was my solution.
So…. Many broken branches later (I.e. supercropping @ random), I present to you - a mess.
Let’s see how it goes. I know it’ll fill in just fine, but I’m hoping they bulk up enough to support some good bud growth. If nothing else, we’ll demonstrate how resilient a cannabis plant is. Apologies to AG for this sketchy start, but I think we’ll pull through.
For posterity, this is 5 plants in a 4x4 tent, Medicgrow Smart 8 plus @60%, 18” above canopy. Trying Jacks 3-2-1 for the first time (honestly the last bag of Megacrop I bought had lots of clumps in it, kind of a turn off - looked like a kitty litter pan). Will run 2 -2.5 EC until they bark…. Plants were vegged about 40 days.
900 ppfd, 82f day, 72f night. Rh 60% now.
4” Grodan rockwool cube on top of a Grodan UniSlab, using a Growlink Irrigation system, drain to waste.
Yeah, they have some naysayers, but the results I had last time are hard to argue with, at least for me. I think a person’s relationship to a plant is a personal thing, but that last AG NL#2 I grew checked all my boxes. But of course I didn’t keep a mother …. So fingers crossed for this time.
This is going to be another mess. The AG NL2 are top left and bottom right. AG Trainwreck x OH in middle.
The other corners are White Widow I got in trade from a member here. One top right, one bottom left.
I’ve had family obligations the past 5-6 weeks. Veg got out of hand, they got big. I shoved them under the screen and broke a bunch of stuff. They didn’t blink and kept going. I’ve not been available to train them to the screen, so they are shooting everywhere. I may have to end up cutting the WW’s out of there, we’ll see what day 21 brings.
D16F. So much for the screen. I’ll thin it out later this week, the WW’s are stretchy mf’ers.
2.3ec, 78f, 60’s rh. Growlink feeding 8-12x per day. Two 0.5gph drippers per plant, around 110 seconds each event.
Grow Confession #373 - I screwed up the controller on the UV bars, and they have been running at 20% during “lights out”. I thought the plants were being slow to set buds, guess that explains it. They are starting to flower, just slow. I don’t know if I just delayed things or if I need to watch for intersex issues (not super worried about that since I never went full dark…). Time will tell.
I stripped them down quite a bit, trying to make the most of it …
I have bent and broken them, tortured and twisted them, yet every friggin day they grow into the lights and I’ve got to start all over. It’s mostly the unknown WW’s that are causing the problems, the AG stuff is being fairly well behaved while being overwhelmed by these other plants. Because of the light screwup I’m not sure what day I should call it, but based on flower growth henceforth this shall be known as:
The plants are doing surprisingly well - but that’s likely a temporary illusion. I’ve gotten fatigued with breaking branches so from here on out it’s survival of the fittest. If they want to do battle with my lights, have at it. I suspect my indifference will lead to a huge, potent harvest …
Jacks 321 @ 2.5EC, ph 5.7, 80f/72f, 55-65% rh.
Edit to add - I’ve setup the automated crop steering in Growlink to push my EC hard. It was up to 10 yesterday (that’s substrate EC, not feed EC). I’ve had minimal runoff since I flipped them and they are starting to show the heat, I know they are a bit ragged. I probably should run some feed through them soon.
Do you remember what your media EC was during stretch?
I’ve had my last two grows hit my lights like this (jacks, coco, drain2waste), wondering what you think the main cause of the stretch is? just genetics & veg time?
It was 4 EC going into flower and has gone up pretty steady from there.
I try to flip them when they are 12-14” tall and I can generally control them, these just got out of hand in veg (30” probably) and that was my big problem. I tend not to run too much sativa leaning stuff as a rule, so that helps too.
You can only push a plant so far. I’m a gonna have to chop this down tomorrow I think, I’m seeing the same thing on most of the top buds. Too much everything I’d imagine. Banana factory, it’ll go in the RSO bag.
Between leaving the uv lights on 24/7 to start, and having almost every cola growing into the lights, I’m accepting responsibility for this, kinda hard to put that on the breeder. And in a fit of frustration last week I trimmed a bunch of branches, something I normally never do at this point.
I haven’t seen any nanners on the other plants yet but it’s kinda hard to see most of the buds . I’LL probably let them go awhile longer as I’m still probably 10 days away from my veg plants being ready to move to flower.
