Trying to get it together

Man what a nice little shrub you have! Should fill in nicely I would think. If you want something with more stretch from seed I would go with a photo period plant. Either 12/12 from seed or flip to 12/12 after 2 or 3 weeks after germination. Autos can be unpredictable as far as final plant size is concerned. I’ve had some be a popsicle and some be a nice hip height bush. And within the same strain.

The stretch would obviously rely on the variety you choose.

I hear you on the autos indoors 100%. Won’t run them again inside for a while. My plan was to run it to get the tent dialed in in time to start the veggie garden & photo moms at the same time. Being able to flower in 18/6 was the driving factor. Wasn’t the best plan in hindsight but it cured the winter blues.
Some photo seeds popped about a week ago. They’re moving slowly in the flowering climate but don’t seem too bothered. I have maybe 3 days before the first round of garden seedlings outgrow their humidome then I need to macgayver a greenhouse/curtain microclimate inside a 2x4 tent :joy:

Can’t get this flower enclosure built fast enough

Day 51
Broke my intent to be lazy & threw some fox farm big bloom & tiger bloom at her ~3 days ago. 1/4 strength, + continuing liquid seaweed & roots organic terp tee bloom. Looking like she is missing something or had too much of something or maybe just the start of end-of-life? Thoughts? Referring to the burnt tips mostly.

Day 58;
Captains log,
Outer space is a dreary and lonesome place.
Things are going from bad to worse but in the grand scheme of things, we’re getting it together so all is well that ends well.

Auto gelato hasn’t liked much of me “getting it together” with this new tent, location, change over to LED. Threw 1/4 strength tiger bloom into the last feed and I don’t think she liked that either. Granted it’s 2 years old and probably froze out over the winter(s) - I probably wouldn’t have liked it either.
Defoliated a lot of really curly twisted angry yellow leaves without taking pictures but there’s some new ones here. I’ll check the water PH and come back to edit.

On a positive note- transplanted the photo period strains 3 days ago and they’re pepping up nicely. Roughly 3 weeks from seed. Growing slowly but they’re putting up with imperfect seedling/veg conditions to get this gelato through mid- late flowering.

She may be grumpy, but her flowers are pretty. Looks like she’s going to make it and give you a nice yield for her size.

Very nice grow!! It has taken me a long time to feel dialed in my grows. Many would argue, I’m still searching, LOL.
For me, the game changer, after I started to use organics additives, came a few years later, when I pushed myself, into making LAB’s, and then using it, as a tea.
Everything my roots were lacking, smoothed right out.
LAB’s simply, works as the organics get coated in LAB’s, activating more of their micro organisms, to fed on, then poop out more plant food.
This poop, is perfectly balanced for plant uptake, as far as PH goes, from my experiences.
The 2 things helping me keep bugs at bay, I gave up on the top down watering’s, and now I water the saucers or trays, allowing wicking action to take place.
The other, I mulch the tops of planter pots, with about 3"- 4" of coco husks. They get removed at the cull, and reused in the next cycle.
Anyway, that is my way, if it helps.

Great advice thanks for stopping in. What are LAB’s? I love the idea of a sip or other bottom up/blumats. it’s on my list to look into that after what size and where the flower tent will be.

She sure is grumpy. Pretty, but grumpy. I can live with that. I have experience living with that .
Yield won’t be too good but that’s no bother. You are right though for a 6” tall plant it’ll yield pretty good :joy:. All about perspective.

Well I hope this link works, I’ve had various updates to this info over the years.
It is a deep dive, but super easy to do and understand, but it is some simple work.
LOT’s of great information: This link taught me so much, how to avoid all the silly grow related items, we do not need. All the best to ya!!

Right up my alley, thanks webe.

Instead of starting more threads-
Getting tent #2 established. Another 2x4, 6’ instead of 5’. Will have to modify slightly but violating manufacturers recommendations is what I do.

Everything’s ordered but the light;
Really want a migro array 4 for the space. Seems to have the most even distribution of light on the market from what I’ve seen. I noticed it’s got Samsung 281 diodes not the newer better 301b/h/evo’s. Seems like the migro guy would know about these and if it was worth upgrading he would, I think his stance is something like if they were more efficient the plants would need supplemental co2 to keep up with it? What’re your thoughts on buying a migro array 4 vs another light for a 2x4 tent?

Looking at octopots w/ autofill too. Can only fit 2 - 6 gallon units, maybe 3 if I spin one in the middle but I don’t think so. So I am thinking of going with 3 gallon options which I could cram in more of. Both use a 6 gallon bag, am I correct in assuming the only difference would be how often I have to fill the reservoir?

Gelato down at ~10 weeks.
Not all those weeks were productive so she didn’t reach her potential, needed another week or two less weeks of lockout and abuse. She’s no longer suffering from me shaking off the rust.

Next victims;
Purple lemonade, Gran Jefa, and blueberry gum tied down up front. They’ll get a little more respect and fewer oops, I hope.

I’m out of likes but those buds don’t look bad. And you’re back in the saddle now. This next flowering aught to be impressive!

Slowly getting it together. Or just getting excited. Let’s face it I’ll never get it together, but that’s ok!
New tent is in!
2x4x6 VIVOSUN pro - cut down 1 1/2” to fit my space.
3 gallon octopots w/ autofill are in but not set up.
Migro array 4 is in and hooked up and it does work througg the VIVOSUN controller so that shot in the dark paid off.
What else…. Vivosun didn’t ship the tent or exhaust fan/carbon filter “discreetly”, legal state but c’mon get it together! I don’t want every dick driving by to know what I do in my home! Also the high CFM bars that came inside the box as part of the tent are for a different size pole so that’s kind of sad, in a funny way. No light leaks though so I’ll take it.

Tied the blueberry gum the old fashioned way, grand jefa & purple lemonade are getting these new fangled “plant trainers” - I think I may like these moving forward.
Lower shoots starting to extend, should be about a week to take some cuttings for the octopots.

Planning on ordering jacks “321” for the octo system - have been reading a ton but any input or advice on those would be great!

Maybe it was user error, but maybe I don’t like these as much. Assuming I should have mooshed the stem a bit, or gone further from the node (I’d have to had wait for some stretching and waiting is hard)
Give em another go, plants still kicking.
Note to self, took 4 cuttings 4/14 off the blueberry gum for the first octopod run.

Update, day something of veg, roughly 3 weeks after transplanting from the solo cups into 1 gal plastic pots. Puts them roughly 6 weeks from germinating. Once the peppers are relocated this tent will flip.
6 days after taking cuttings decided to put a heat mat under the dome :man_facepalming: refer to thread title. Getting tired of saying it.

The gran jefa I halfway broke with these plastic plant trainer contraption I decided to just top instead as I’m sure I’d end up breaking it completely later.

Purple lemonade intentionally topped.

Blueberry gum tied down to get some shoots for cuttings, now I’m just going to keep bending it into some sort of funny shape.

Living with fungus gnats, but starting to notice what I believe are thrips and thrip damage. Also showing some other signs of stress, probably over watering. Feeding FF grow big and big bloom 1/4 strength PH was 6.3ish. FF ocean forest soil.

Octopots loaded up with sunshine #4, jacks 5-12-26 and cal nit en route. Epsom salts on the bench. From what I understand that’s all I’m going to be using for the octo run.

Any input on the leaf irregularities would be great wether insect damage or if it looks like a deficiency/watering problem or what have you.

Also any octo growers input on the jacks nutes I’m planning on running would be great. Also what are your thoughts on transplanting from 1 gallon containers with FFOF into an octopot w/ SS#4? Figure they’ll be about 5-6 weeks into the OF and should be pretty neutral by then? Wasn’t my original plan but I like to think out loud.

PS anyone else burp grove bags regularly the first time they used them? Having a hard time believing in this ziplock sorcery
