Aww why delete, you keep bringing good points and then erasing them :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Youā€™re right on a lot of people letting things go almost completely amber before selling, for effects, because it aint there otherwise. Most of the black market stuff Iā€™ve seen over the last 5-10yrs matches that exactly.

Bro I see sketchiness in the black market stuff and the dispensary stuff.
I would think that commercial grower with their resources would be able to put out a better quality of bud than what Iā€™m seeing coming from the legal market.

Ok im feeling brave enough to venture back into this thread :stuck_out_tongue:
Additive dominance got itā€¦thnx, ur one of the only cats i like talking to about this stuffā€¦no nonsenseā€¦no wall-o-text to get thru or posturing.ur just a straight shooter.love it.
Ok check this out, new plan. Iā€™ve found the male i want from a crossā€¦my new approach is take the fem f1ā€™s i like from the cross and hit em with the single male. So what happens to a line that has had the mixed sire side added to a f5 line
Itā€™s a bx1, but diff way to start a lineā€¦i think.

Random question but Iā€™ve been wanting to play with the kryptonite and other NL stuff I got just for personals. Always been focused on yield through the years never played with pollen. I have a room with a few tents is it realistic to try and grow a small male with some females in one and keep my other tents seed free? Should I try and get that male going with some pollen in a complete different part of the house than just splash the female at one point? Or if Seedless bud for the people is my #1 priority, should I just not fuck around with pollen inside? I donā€™t need to make seeds just crossing different NLs and kush is intriguing

Cool; I want to grow your smelly terpy DNA. That sounds like a good find.

I wonder if there is some company I can pay to send them some ā€œhemp seeds meant for fiber productionā€ to get an expert to treat them with colchicine? Has anybody heard about that? Surely some guys are doing it for commercial production of some less useful plant, and they could just treat my seeds for a feeā€¦

Well, in horse breeding you only breed with the elites and new records are beaten every year. So in a sense elite breeding or line breeding will give you results. Theres no questions about it. But its funny that you are talking about A5, because its one of those strains that improve upon potency. The experience for A5 for me is that you can have a 18% thc mother, but when you breed her to say a Thai, the you will have offspring that well over what both parents could achieve potency wise. So what im meaning is that cannabis have 20 chromosomes that arrange in either way in the offspring, the genes for potency needs to be in multiple chromosomes to be able to increase potency in offspring. From that conclusion it would make sense to try alot of different outcrosses to find the magic match for the increase in thc since you have no clue which chromosome does what.

Iā€™d flower the male in a different room at the minimum. Check the tent with the male in it, last, after youā€™ve checked everything else for the day. No fan/air movement in the male tent. Shouldnā€™t have any issues with pollen getting everywhere that way. Collect and dose your girls with it. To keep everything else clean I usually would pull the girls out of the tent to pollinate. Then spray them down to deactivate the pollen after a half hour or so.

You are scared of pollen leaksā€¦ If you dont want to collect the pollen and paint it with a brush, i would advise on gettibmng yourself a hepa filter before the carbon filter. Pollen does really clog the carbon filter up and its cheaper and easier to replace hepa filters. But If youre just gonna do it once, the carbon filter will remove 100% of the pollen from the air. After the male is done and all your females have had enough orgsams, you can spray the whole i side of the tent, pots and plants with water and run the exhaust on max setting for the next days to not introduce mold. Just ask If you got any other questions! I hope you atleast try some pollenating

Cool thank you!

Iā€™m down with collecting and painting it with a brush. Like flower this male elsewhere, collect the pollen, apply it to the females in another room with no air movement then spray with some water and itā€™s all smooth after that. Is that what your saying? I would go with your advice on the hepa filter if i wanted to do this more but I got extra brand new carbon filters around so Iā€™ll just use one if itā€™ll do whatā€™s needed

And thank you for the help by the way!

I donā€™t know where to put itā€¦ Iā€™m reading this thread, so Iā€™ll put it here

Does anyone know in more detail about the trade-off s mechanisms in cannabis specifically

Thank you  Yeah, i always wait 24-48h after deactivating the pollen. Its not a scientific thing, its just that i dont trust myself. But after that they could flower with other plants. Just beware and look after pollen sacs on your ladys, some females hermie after pollination. So you need to keep and extra eye on that.

Well indoor the plants wont have any trade offs If you know how to grow. But out doors its exactly the same trade off for every plant. Since the production of thc is a type of defense and in a way a trade off trait. Some environments would produce more thc then others, activating that defense.

Theyā€™re molecular trade-off defensesā€¦doesnā€™t matter indoor or outdoor

Honestlyā€¦to me it just sounds like a bit of a puff piece by a new academic trying to reword ā€œplants respond to shit done to them and the environmentā€

Yes and no. Trade offs are always activated by the environment and the thought about indoor environment are that you would minimize the impact of the environment so that trade off traits arnt activated.

Most hermies are indoor.

I would disagreeā€¦
