Using stills to make RSO and brewing alcohol to make EverClear from scratch

As much as I like cool toys, I think I’m sticking with jars and coffee filters, lol!

But… I guess I should ask, is there a marked difference in the end cannabis product from distilling vs a long soak 'n strain?

$42 per bottle of Everclear here, minimum order of $70, with $30 shipping. Hate to just evaporate it away.

just be careful that and masturbation you could go blind!!! lol

Not sure, I do a long soak in the freezer as well as strain it before putting it in the distiller, really its no difference other than I get the alcohol back instead of it evaporating into the air, if that’s what you mean. I also use it for making the alcohol to start with.

Thanks for stepping in here. This is right, I am simply getting the alcohol that I couldn’t squeeze out of the weed and filters. It doesn’t reclaim any THC that may still be in there.

I drain thru a metal sieve into a jar…just gravity. When that’s done dripping I put all that spoil into an old 25 bubble bag. Then I twist and tourniquet the daylights out of it. You can bear down much harder than on a coffee filter. I do that squeeze out over a bowl…then filter that. I got this trick from someone else and it’s been pretty darn good.

Please elaborate. How does the freezer change things? The plant matter sits in the alcohol longer?
Years ago I met the son of the treasurer of the Outlaws biker gang. His grandmother had cancer of the lungs which had spread to her lymph nodes and then to her whole body including her brain. She was bedridden and had bed sores the size of fists on her body. She was given last rites several times by a priest, when finally her son decided he had had enough and could take no more.
He began giving her marijuana tea. After a week or so of the tea he began giving her small bits of food with marijuana in it, the old school way, grinding up the weed and putting it in the food. After several weeks of eating this food she began to gain strength and got out of bed. She began cooking for herself after another week or two. She would put about a quarter pound worth of buds in her food each week. Soon she began cooking for the rest of the family, weed in her food, none in the families food.
2 years later she went and saw her doctors that have been giving her cancer treatments. The same doctors that had sent her home to die when they knew there was nothing else they could do for her. Upon seeing her, the doctor asked what she was doing there. She told him she had decided to stop by for a visit. The doctor clarified, and ask her why she was still alive, told her that she should have died a long time ago… years ago. She told him about the marijuana treatment. The doctor then ran some tests on her and she was completely cancer-free. She passed away in her sleep 7 years after getting those last rites. She was in her 90s and died of old age😁. I’ve always known I was told that information for a reason. So I would know the truth of this miracle plant.

As I said, I don’t know the science, lol! I’m just guessing, but after a month, or so of being in the freezer, and shaken up intermittently, pretty much everything is stripped out of the plant material.

These tincs I’m making aren’t a cure, I don’t think, but they do make the folks on or after chemo feel better. At least that’s what they say, all anecdotal.

Sounds like the “dragon juice” @YoBigdaddy makes. I bet it’s great stuff.
Perhaps in high enough quantities it could be a cure. Ingesting cannabis will some day be viewed as a primitive form of getting thc to target cancer cells, but for now it’s what we can do. Rick Simpson says 60 grams of hash oil Ingested in 60 days is the proper dose. It’s a lot, and it does not always work, but does work well for some cancers according to numerous first hand accounts that I read years ago. Supposed to go this route instead of chemo and not with chemo according to Rick. I’ve only given hash oil to one person and only one time. The patient had been getting chemo and had not slept well in months and worse, had not produced a normal stool in as long. She had an excellent night’s sleep that night, sleeping more than 8 hours straight and had a normal stool the next morning for the first time in ages. Unfortunately the following night, by herself this time, she took too much oil and fell asleep with her neck crooked and awoke to a bad kink. Afterwards she decided it was too strong and stopped taking it. I often wonder how she would have faired if she followed thru with the recommended course of action. She was so much better off with only 2 doses. She passed away from chemo.
Like you say, it makes cancer patients feel better at the very least. At the most it could save a life.
Hash oil targets cancer cells in 2 ways. All regular cells are triggered to die at some point but cancer cells are mutants and don’t die naturally. Marijuana triggers these cancer cells to commit suicide. In addition, Thc shrinks the capillaries that feed the tumor. As in war, cut the line of supply and the enemy starves.
@HorseBadorites you’re a good person for doing what you do. Keep up the great work and don’t be afraid to tell people the story I told you. You never know but you just might save a life.

From The American Cancer Society.

"More recently, scientists reported that THC and other cannabinoids such as CBD slow growth and/or cause death in certain types of cancer cells growing in lab dishes. Some animal studies also suggest certain cannabinoids may slow growth and reduce spread of some forms of cancer.

There have been some early clinical trials of cannabinoids in treating cancer in humans and more studies are planned. While the studies so far have shown that cannabinoids can be safe in treating cancer, they do not show that they help control or cure the disease.

Relying on marijuana alone as treatment while avoiding or delaying conventional medical care for cancer may have serious health consequences."

Nice to hear about other people helping with this magnificent plant.
Keep telling those stories. I am one of those tales.
But I will tell you about someone I helped.
She came to me, was diagnosed stage 4 . Thyroid, neck, chest, lymphnodes .
Dr. Were telling her all the scary choices she had. She wasn’t wanting any of them. More of an organic natural girl. She had heard about me and asked if I could help. I always tell them as long as you are honest with your Dr. He must know everything you take. Started her with a RSO salve to rub on all affected areas. Made her MCT tinctures and RSO in pill form. Alternating with a good CBD, in tincture form.
Her scans showed it in many places. She did have to have surgery to remove the Thyroid, but also the top lobe of her lung, lymph nodes surrounding areas, which only the thyroid was all that needed removed.
I was treating her for about 6 months before she had surgery.
I went with her and her daughter to the hospital and stayed. It was supposed to be a 10 or so hour surgery we were told. About 4 hours later, the surgeon came out. Daughter was petrified!! She wouldn’t look at him…I said he’s smiling!
He said he couldn’t believe what he found or didn’t find from her scans just 2 weeks previous. She was able to keep her lungs in tacked and lymph nodes.
She stayed on the regime I gave her for another 6 months. She is Cancer FREE!

So it’s been a couple years now, how has the Mophorn Water Distiller held up. I’m using a rice cooker and want to use something to reclaim my alcohol.
Thanks

Great, thanks for the response. I’m gonna pull the trigger. Any advice on its use/maintenance?

Thank you Shadey…

When making alcool, don’t try and get a high proof in one run, it’s quicker to do a stripping run first.

If you are making RSO pour it out while it’s still runny or you lose a lot stuck to the inside of the still. You can clean of the residue with kitchen roll and alcohol.

If you get stuck with anything in particular just give a Holla

Awesome, will do, thanks for the tips. Can’t wait to retire the rice cooker…

Cheers

For anyone “still” looking for ethanol on the cheap, keep a lookout for alcohol based hand sanitizer - as in, left over from the debacle of 20/21. I picked up two gallons of 80% ethanol for $5 each, which is about as cheap as you are going to find.

I wouldn’t use this as is for any extractions given it also contains glycerin and H2O2.

Meaning, you’ll need to distill the ethanol out of the solution, which should not be a problem given that the boiling point of hydrogen peroxide is around 150C/300F, and glycerin boils at around 290C/550F.

So far so good.

Ultimately I expect well over a gallon (close to 1.5) of 75-80% ethanol, which is a steal at only $10. If you can find a deal like this it’s probably the simplest and cheapest way to some high-proof ethanol.

I talked with a pro that was just starting out 20 years ago.
His tip was put it in the freezer and the water will freeze before anything.
Skim out the ice and most of the water is gone.

I thought if this works that is one killer tip. :money_mouth_face:
The science is sound, I just have not tried it to confirm it works as stated.

I too am looking for the best way to reclaim the ethanol with a limited mess…LOL
So I may be doing it in the near future.

And here are the results, well over 1.5 gallons of high-proof ethanol. The total includes another pint+ that I used to refill the supply we clean out our vapes with around here.

It could have been pushed a little farther, but there is a rapid onset of diminishing returns with distillation, and once the alcohol content of the product begins to drop toward the end of the run you’ll get mostly water pretty quickly.

So yea, keep an eye out for this stuff, there’s bound to be a lot of it out there, and at least in Western NY this would cost probably $150 or so at the liquor store. Higher ABV would be better, but 80% will work fine for extractions, just make sure it is as cold as possible and do quick washes with the material to avoid grabbing more water solubles than you want.
