Using stills to make RSO and brewing alcohol to make EverClear from scratch

Why not just seperate the water content from the ISO using salt?

Would you mind elaborating on this?

I had some 74 percent iso and wanted to make RSO. I read the the salt attached to the water molecules and separates them from the alcohol so the water and salt fall to the bottom and all you have to do is pour off the now pure alcohol. I made RSO with it and that stuff was almost too strong and there wasn’t any bad taste or anything. You can literally see it separate.

Thanks for this, really good info. Given the new glut of ethanol I have on hand an experiment appears in order.

…that damn azeotrope relationship…

Will this work with ethanol? I read through the article and the Q&A and I don’t think any of them really know and being that the author never responded they make guesses. If so, this would be great for GD. The other problem I have with his system is, depending on how high a percentage you have, how much evaporation are you going to get and absorbtion (it’s really hydrophilic) by keeping it uncovered while you take tiny amounts (depending on how much you’re doing) with a baster. When I am making cuts, I cover the jars so this won’t happen.

You know what, I think I will try it with some Feints I have sitting around.

Man tbh idk. I can’t say it’s safe with full confidence I can just say when I did it with I think it was 72 percent I didn’t suffer any Ill effects. I don’t really know the science behind it enough to give a solid answer to your question.
