ValleyPhantom and xplow420 grow strawberry banana autos

So myself and @Xplow420 started some strawberry banana autoflower fem seeds recently, from the same batch.

This is xplow’s first grow :potted_plant: definitely not mine. But I’m guaranteed to mess something up still

So far I have 4/6 breaking soil, or jiffy’s anyway. Sitting on top of the Xbox currently. The heat helping them to germinate faster. I’m sure xplow will chime in with how many he has up etc in the coming posts.

I’ll be using a 240w DIY bridgelux rig 280mm x 860mm built to fit a little sideboard/cupboard etc. still not got that yet so you’ll see stuff going together the next week or 3.

Just thought you all may like to watch a co-op grow as such. Different lights/medium/nutes etc of the same seed grown at the same time

So I have 3 strawberry banana fem autos which were given to me by valleyphantom and the bigger one in the group is a glue gelato fem auto by barneys farms currently not using any nutrients just stright water I have a 1m by 1m by 2m tall tent with a 600w omega adjustable ballast which is running at 250w they were planted on the 6th so are currently only young but I will be posting updates in the future to come

I like watching comparison grows. I’ll be following along for sure.

Be glad to have you along. I ordered a few bits towards my space today

The tuya air quality monitor at £24 is a no brainer. And £40 for a pretend bluelab monitor.

Also ordered some float switches. A pump. Some clay pebbles and some nutes

6 of 6 up. Will only be keeping 4 running as will only have the space for 4…I’ll be using hydrocrop hydrosol for feed. That’s due either today or tomorrow. Same as the vitalink clay pebbles.
Still no sign of the net pots. And a few other bits are definitely on the slow boat from china.

Absolutely nowhere near complete yet but here’s a little update.
Got a 60l wham box to use as a res. pH and EC meter is here. I’ve got an air pump and air stone. Got a feed pump but need a return. Both float switches are mounted in the control bucket.
As you can see these are clear boxes but I have spray paint to make them light proof.
I’ve made up 1l/10% stock solution of the hydrocrop, ready to mix into the res when ready. Still yet to get some hosepipe and a cabinet

Multi function clock/temp/humidity/co2/aqi etc etc is working. This is a smart meter too so can use this to control sockets via the tuya app.
Little beans aren’t much further behind @Xplow420

So still a way to go but good progress being made :sunglasses:

A good job I’m striving for function and not perfection this run. All holes except for glands have been cut with a soldering iron. After a craft knife failed miserably

Net pots are made from 700ml food tubs. Also prodded a million times with a soldering iron.

The toddler (who is legit a bit of a dick) broke my res. Luckily I had some t rex tape on hand from a Scotland wild camping trip :sunglasses: so that’s strapped back up. After about 5 litres spilled on the floor before noticing. Going to be running a 40l res. (Can maybe go to 50l comfortably during bloom when the ladies drink more.

My friend who gifted the strawberry banana autos so kindly told me. (These are said to grow the biggest of fastbuds stuff…cheers mate knowing im in a small space) :no_mouth: It be sweet.

I’ve sprayed the pots black now. But might add a later of foil to the top for that little bit more light proof protection. Maybe even reflect some light below the canopy.

Today I’m going to make up the 40l feed. And give each pot - by hand at the moment. 2 litres each a day over 4 x 500ml intervals. This should be enough to get them rooted well and we might even see some growth soon :100:

Temp will drop. I’ll add feed to the pots around the 21°c mark. I understand the pH may drift a bit with temperature but adding nutes to EC 0.74 (still a little light but they haven’t had a decent feed yet so I want to ease them in)

Soon as the lights go out I’ll grab some proper photos quickly of them all and do my updates

I’m getting some hosepipe today to start getting the system a bit more together. Feed has drifted to 6.9pH overnight at 21c. The plants seem to be fine on 0.7EC but look like they’ll take more. I might push to 1.0EC which should bring the pH back down. (I’ve got no pH down yet)

Anyway, midwife appointment very soon bro

Just a few photos from the other day lights go off in half hour so will get some better ones and add what day there on good luck with the appointment bro

Appointment went well. Even the toddler was behaved for like an hour and 20  shame about the rest of the day but you can’t win em all :dotted_line_face:

The pots are connected to the control bucket. Think I might cut a piece of MDF down to sit them on whilst I’ve got moving about to do still. The res and t rex tape bodge didn’t work  now I’ve got a soggy carpet but the Mrs has a reason to try the new carpet cleaner :+1: so I’ve currently got about 14 litres of feed with an air stone in a bucket

You can probably get an idea of how the system will work now. Little one also helped sticker bomb the pots with Mr maker, the BFG and a few other stickers :fire:

Inside the control bucket. You can see the return pump. (I’m yet to get a handful of pg9 cable glands to be able to wire that neatly to the bottom float switch. Which as soon as it reaches below that line the pump stops, so it never runs dry)
The top float switch will be wired to the res pump to stop when the switch is triggered at the top to make sure we don’t overflow the pots.
Been thinking about getting a wardrobe instead of the tambour so I can gain a few inches height and possibly contain the res underneath a shelf with a one way valve stopping any strain on the pumps motor going back down as the float switch settles. Plus that would be much more stealth than a res outside a cabinet with cable glands and hosepipe running to it

Added an ammeter to my light so I can adjust wattage without any guesswork.

Decided I needed a nice new logo like some of the other cool kids around here :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: and then I decided I was gonna laser on it on a coaster. So that’s what I did.
Also gave the plants a foliar spray at lights out of a light seaweed solution to help with the stress of having me as their cultivator and procrastinating more than doing shit :100: because the 2 smaller ones are showing early signs of deficiency (being left in jiffys too long before transplanting to clay pebbles and giving decent feed is likely the cause but they should bounce back. And there’s 2 backups just In case they really don’t)
Also upped the EC in the res to 0.98 with the pH sitting high around the 6.3 mark at around 19°c

Think that’s the lot for now

Got some individual plant pics with a bit better quality than my usual shaky shitters

And used a paste table to house the light a bit better for now. Just gave them a 0.98EC feed too.

I’ve started lst on all mine they really didn’t look good but they bounced back like everyone said they would just scary as a first timer because I don’t want to mess up I definitely need to invest in a led aswell even with the ballast turn down to 250w on the hps I’m going through like 80 pound electric on it lol will get some photos shortly

Aye, they’ll always bounce back from a tie down etc bro. They’ll naturally wanna head back to the light (the whole point of LST to be fair🤣)
One of my lesser pretty plants seems to have perked up a little bit, and I see a root trying to make it’s way out. The smaller one still seems to be stunted at the moment but no worse than yesterday on appearance so hopefully okay. Like I say I do have backups there but I’d prefer to get these 4 already in all the way :100:

Yh I’m still a bit confused with the whole process of lat do I keep the main stems tied down and continue to tie more down as they grow bigger

For example I’ve tied her down again and she pointed back up and all the under leafs are now developing

Basically the idea is to use whatever means necessary string/clip wise etc to move leaves out the way to make more light available to the lower bud sites. (Is about as simply as I can explain it)
