Ya had to get the tape measure out this morning rather cool am breeze snowed in the mountains in areas around here ,my tallest plants are 15” and most are at 12”
Here’s them Birdseye swaying in the cold morning breeze! To cold to go sit out on the porch with a cup of joe!
Have a great day! @Meesh your place is looking beautiful!
My largest is about 2 1/2 feet in a 3 gallon pot. She’s not happy so she goes into the ground today. Maybe one other one not as tall but ready to get out of the 1 gallon pot so it may go in the dirt.
That’s good sized for a small pot, make her happy again! How’s your nighttime morning lows for your area?
We’ve been around 50 except for a few mid 40’s. Pretty steady for a long time.
I think we’re getting some low 40’s in a couple of days and maybe rain, I hope so. I don’t see it freezing again really. It can always happen, though.
Gotta peel that off & re-use it!
I saved a “complete ass” sticker for quite a while…
I’m managing to kill one of my little succulents. These are really not my forte. I have a small little tower pot that a few of them are in. I’ve watered them all the same, but one is not happy and big fat leaves are dropping off. I looked it up, seems to be an overwatering issue. Figures. I have only been watering them like once every 2 weeks. I think I am gonna ignore the hell out of them now and see how they react. At least my string of pearls is still okay and in a growth spurt. Damn. Succulents are not for gardeners who like to fuss with their plants. lol
Hard to believe, but I read that cacti (& presume succulents) need to “callus” a bit where broken off, -or- if transplanted, not watered for a MONTH. !!!
I r smart ken reed
What I need is LITFA with these damn succulents!
I transplanted a fuschia plant last week. Probably had it for 7 years and it kept wintering over. It was still in the original pot it was in when I bought it. Hardly any soil left in it, mostly neglected. Anyway, this morning it has a bunch of new flowers on it. It looks really happy in it’s new pot. No pics yet. It’s still too embarrassing. lol My container of mums just got transplanted and is flowering now. Also, received new container dahlias last week from Michigan Bulb and I see them starting to surface. Super exciting!
Harvested about half of my comfrey plant. Stuck it in a paint strainer in a 5 gallon bucket to ferment for awhile. Stoked to try it out on all my plants!
My man scored me an old wheelbarrow! I am so stoked! It’s gonna make such a bitchen planter! Gotta love him! He truly gets me.
Tomorrow it’ll be a recliner with bedbugs & a rat!
“Check it OUT!” (Spiccoli voice)
LMAO…
Hey @Meesh, I got three of them here. I believe the lady that I bought the house from was using them as planters so I need to get some ideas from you. I have so much work to do but it will be great eventually. It was close but overgrown. Now I’m rearranging some of the raised beds.
Oh, I gotta get some pics of the Colorado Columbines. They’re starting to bloom. It’s the state flower, too. They’re normally yellow/white but I have some that are yellow, white, and blue’ish.
Did she drill drainage holes in them? I need Dad over here with a drill before I fill it up.
Please post your flower pics! I love them
No, I think they were starting to rust through so it would be advisable I guess. Maybe even coat the bottom with something… But, they’re still here. We don’t get a lot of humidity or rain so mine may have lasted longer than normal.
I have been patiently waiting for the last one to open so I could take a pic. Dwarf Sunflowers. Man, these look so good
My newest plant Veronica aka Speedwell
Sweet peas! I’m harvesting 30 flowers per day now
Peas are looking great mine are growing but slow I think the heat we already having is stunting them may try again in the fall.
Mine are puny as well. I have one small bunch on the north side of the house that will do okay. It’s in an odd place but I may build a trellis for them.
@Meesh, what are you doing with the sweet pea flowers? Man, yours are looking great. Last place I lived they would get as large as large shrubs.
They do best on a trellis, they like cooler weather. I usually start mine here in December or January. I’m wondering if you would do better planting in summer and having them bloom in the fall there. I’d check the almanac. I was actually a bit late planting this year. It’s major harvest time now though, about 20 to 30 a day. Make sure you harvest those flowers every day, if even one goes to seed, they’ll start dying off.
