The Keep (1983)
@billdozier72 I’m still bummed this doesn’t have a 1080p release yet considering it’s a Michael Mann film!
I agree on the 1080 p.
I also heard that they are planing on a remake soon.
I hope they don’t ruin it.
No Dress Rehearsal…excellent doc on arguably Canadas greatest band ever, The Tragically Hip. Rated 9.6 on IMDB …great footage starting back when they were in high school, turning into a Canadian juggernaut, all the way up to Gord Downies death from brain cancer. I cried.
You’re not human if you don’t cry at their story. The first time i saw the boys was back before Gord cut his hair short. What a show it was . Rest in power Gord…
July 1st 1989, Molsons Park?
Burned his cowboy boats as a tribute to the moment.
Yep. Saw that one.
Last place I expected to see a ref to wee Irvine Welsh.
TS2 was OK but it was never going to top TS1 especially for us Scots as it captured a moment in our youth for a lot of Scots who can remember the wave of heroin use washing over Scottish housing estates/projects at the time.
Not going to lie I cried in the cinema though when Wolf Alice’s “Silk” was playing during the flash back Begby had of the old Leith Rail Station & Yard and his Dad during TS2.
I feel there are lots of micro cultural refs in the second one that only really Scots catch/hits the mark for. But it is what it is.
Hope you got the Bald Yin absolutely melted in that bar, He is definitely one of our greats alongside Robert Burns & Alasdair Gray. He laid us bare in a way that allowed us to laugh at ourselves instead of feeling shame.
Maybe we burned one together
I was the scrawny, long haired kid in the front row with Stevie G. We had a wine skin we snuck in under my armpit and would swing it around wildly in a “wineskin salute” Man, i miss Molson Park. Hopped the fence for so many shows there.
Living in Barrie, we used to go in a few days before concerts and bury booze in the park.
Saw a lot of great concerts there…A LOT!
The Hip, Teenage Head, Pearl Jam, Chili Peppers, Ministry, Joe Walsh, Bootsauce, Our Lady Peace, Soundgarden, Violent femmes, NIN, Alice in Chains, Stone temple Pilots, 5440, Porno for Pyros, Jeff Healey…it goes on and on
I also miss Molson Park. At least it became a greenhouse at the very end
I’ve been there once, Beastie Boys concert, Tribe Called Quest was also on the ticket but did not show an unexpected Biz Markie Did. Biz played a snippet of Jump Around, we all did jump indeed and It could have been the shrooms but I swear for just a second we were all stuck in mid-air against each other slightly.
