What are you watching? (TV & Movies)

Meh. Whether he’s naive or just feigning, I don’t really care… the show was underwhelming to me, maybe because I’m already inclined to dislike it and maybe just because it’s HBO-ified enough for me to wonder if Michael Bay is involved somewhere. He stopped writing his “epic” series for a year to organize his thoughts and then got lazy and decided to just sell it, meanwhile Robert Jordan was still on a mission to finish writing his epic even as he lay in his deathbed with amyloidosis slowly tearing his body apart.

So, back in the day a movie got made called “Rock and Roll Nightmare” staring Jon Mikl Thor, of the Toronto “metal band” Thor.

Incase you wanted a sad reminder:

It was shot in rural Ontario, in a farmhouse converted recording studio famously used to record a Rolling Stone’s album in the 80’s (i forget which one). The film was shot in 7 days, and in the edit was short by 10min so the director took 10 minutes of footage of the band’s touring van driving in farmland up to the studio to fill in the space

The Plot: “At a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, a hopeful hair-metal band seeking inspiration to record their upcoming new LP will soon find themselves in a furious confrontation against the Prince of Darkness himself.”

So, the REASON i’m sharing this is that we can now flash forward to 2022… and I swear Dave Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters watched this while drinking hard and then realized what needed to be done…

I’m gonna check this out on the weekend. Looking forward to the nonsense that I hope it is! :hugs:

Holy shit I didn’t even realize that was Johnny Lee Miller until they showed his name at the end.

How the hell have I not heard about this? I’m still bummed he never made “The real Rocknrolla”.

He had a lust for life after not being involved in Guy Ritchies “Here, hold my beer.” version of the Arthur tale that should have been called: “Thug Arthur: the BWAAAs of Excalibur”

I really love watching “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword”; but NOT because it is a good film.

Never saw it but a Guy Ritchie King Arthur movie sounds terrible

IT’S FANTASTICALLY BAD!

My partner and I have watched it at least 10x, mostly in the background, and mainly because of the soundtrack and eye candy.

There’s even a cameo with David Beckham for some Gods awful reason and he’s HORRIBLE so it’s works really well!

It’s like Guy was drinking with friends and stepping up the nonsense in a “what if?” game…

the montage sequence alone of Arthur growing up in the streets of London emphasizes that the whole movie is basically: “Son’s of Anarchy… but it’s with Arthur and his knights BEFORE he’s king and there’s magic and vikings and shit… oh yeah, let’s also throw in a giant snake!!!”

lol.

In the opening 5 minutes; Eric Bana hands a preppy Jude Law his crown (a literal here hold my beer moment here…), and then runs his horse off of a 250ft high castle bridge jumping off of it mid air in order to directly assault solo, a charging Oliphant in full battle regalia to get to the massive pyramid on it’s back filled with soldiers and an evil wizard launching fireballs at Camelot!

IF you watch the following clip, and hate it don’t watch the rest… BUT if you love nonsense!

 :crossed_swords: :fire: :elephant:

Wow. I feel like there’s probably a level of stoned that suddenly makes that movie fantastic though and I might take that challenge

I feel this is another “me telling you to watch Peacemaker for the right reasons.” moment @Slick1 . :+1:

Do you like flipping tables? Cause this movie is one giant table flip to anyone that takes the Arthurian legends seriously!

edit: my partner is a history major, and LOVES the Arthurian legends… and this movie jumps the shark SO HARD she absolutely loves it!!!

I can’t say I take the Arthurian legends any certain way. They could make him ride dinosaurs and I’m not bothered… I take it back, I want him to ride dinosaurs

Peacemaker had John Cena playing the dumbest looking super hero I’ve ever seen with a stupid looking helmet. It had a ton of bad first impressions, but after getting past that and giving it a shot the show stood on it’s own. Jude Law thoughtfully nose leaking blood tears on a bridge because Eric Bana (what a choice for any role ) sees something spooky inside a wooden elephant pyramid full of sorcery seems more like the tone of the movie than just a bad first impression. Still though I feel like enough weed would make me appreciate it on an ironic level, and even more weed could possibly just make it fun as hell. Like just enough to drown out common sense and just roll with it.

I also was hesitant to watch Peacemaker, but I feel like it’s perfectly executed with spot on tone, and tongue in cheek humor.
