My friend had one of those, the 642 is a brutal gun to fire for fun, but it sure does carry well, I think he had the even lighter Scandium one loaded with 38+ and it damn near broke your wrist, no second shot control at all.
Wtf now thatās just too much. And my dad wonders why I wonāt move back
@Hippiechik
are those trichs on that cohete?
love the pink grip
= bambi-gun ( )
right, when I lived in Pueblo Co in 2017 I could just walk into a gun store and buy a pistol with my drivers license, I should of. Open carry , car carry it didnāt matter. I worked at 1 greenhouse we took a lunch break( joint break ) and my co workers had a sweet 1911 right in the cup holder. those rattlesnakes are dangerous
Those 1911s are accurate. I took my oldest daughter to the range and we shot oneā¦ well she shot it one time and didnāt wanna do it no more I had a good time with it for an hour
IDK Iām not a gun owner but Iāve had the chance to fire a bunch with friends at the range. I honestly hated the 1911, only thing worse to shoot was a Glock. The 1911 was a nice one too, the guy was my friends stepdad and a gunsmith/instructor. He handed me his match grade S&W .40 full-size after that and it was just pure butter compared to either of those. He said .40 was a good balance between the velocity of a 9mm and the mass of the .45 and thatās why it was his choice for open carry in the country.
Glocksā are as ergonomic as a brick . I came up shooting revolvers & didnāt touch a semi-auto ( except 22ās ) until military . Carry guns are even more subjective as most go with compact or smaller . Which makes them harder to shoot well , especially in a cartridge an experienced gunner would choose . Iāve carried everything between a pair of S&W Model 13 3" 357mag , Model 58 41mag , 1911ās & a few HKās . Bottom line carry what you can control , what you have confidence in , what has sufficent power to eliminate a threat . Ideally you want to be able to make rapid multiple well aimed shots against multiple opponents .
My favorite handgun so far is the sig sauer p220/p229.
I figured that since a huge number of encounters happen at close range, it would be a good option, especially for press-contact use. Itās not too bad on the range, but I donāt particularly enjoy it.
As long as it goes bang every time & you can keep all your shots on a pie plate . A good action job makes a world of difference on a J frame like that .
Yup. It really does need a bit of polishing, I have trouble with neuropathy in my hands so fine motor control is difficult sometimes. These things are pretty reliable, though.
They can pry em from my cold dead hands
S&W revolvers are extremely dependable . Iāve suggested a K frame 3" or better , 38 special or bigger for first handgun for years . Youāre correct in that polishing internals , some moly paste etc . While they do make spring kits , they can affect reliability with light strikes / misfires . Not desirable when betting your life .
This Canadian overgrower packs nothing but bowls.
Ya that shrouded hammer is good if you needed to press it into an attacker and they were trying to jam it, not happening!
Iām a basic ass mofo so shotgun, rifle, and a four wheel drive.
When I go someplace I try to pack light.
Iām not an expert on defensive cartridges by any means, but I always loved the meme of calling those ā.40 Slow & Worthlessā As a fun fact, I believe the .40 is a shorter version of the 10mm, which was created after FBI testers thought the 10mm was too hot.
This little .38 packs a punch and is good medicine for varmints, plus itās easy to carry and use.
Youāve just described 100% of my road trips.
